Welcome to my #marketfriday hosted by @dswigle. I took a road trip from Miami to Key West. Since you are in Miami, of course you have to start with some Cuban coffee from la ventanita.
Verailles has the best Cuban coffee and croquetas you can get without a tourist visa.
Their croquetas come with crackers which seemed weird but were a nice finish to the fried treat.
Next stop another local store for some Cuban bread plus a toasted ham and cheese croissant. Our "tour guide" wanted us to experience all the local cuisine.
After some driving in what I have to admit was terrible traffic, we stopped at the Blond Giraffe. Despite what the sign says we were just in Key Largo lol still 2 hours from Key West.
The Blond Giraffe was founded in Key West so that probably explains the sign.
They later added the tag "Key Lime Pie Factory" and focus now on all things Key Lime.
I had a frozen slice of Key Lime Pie on a stick. Did I mention it was dipped in chocolate? 😋
They also make traditional Key Lime pies but why would you go back after having the frozen, chocolate coated version?
We did finally make it to Key West.
And followed directions...

Tasty, fresh raw bar in laid back atmosphere. Seemed to capture Key West vibe pretty well for me.

We spend a nice holiday in Florida and had a long road trip too.

Haha! We call them feral chickens and they are a common sight there (and a few other places in the US) and in most of the Caribbean Islands. Believe it or not, they usually live longer than domestic chickens.
I no longer love the trip from Miami to Key West. The traffic in the winter is hazardous to one's patience. I kid you, but, it is a lot more crowded than it used to be. What a great place to go through. Key Lime pie is the bomb, but, I have never had it from them and on a stick!? Brilliant!
Cuban anything is delicious!!! My favorite is the Cuban sandwich, but, I would love to have what you are having! :) I leave the rules of the road, not for you, but maybe for people reading it. :)

You need a Miami culinary tour with my son lol or actually his girlfriend that is fluent Spanish speaker 🙂 The drive and Key West were both pretty crowded. Good time of year to be there before it gets hot and probably some spring break crowd both...

We also have plenty of snowbirds in Quebec 😀 You didn't hear French spoken during your trip. It's a trip that I would like to make, the Keys... I note the addresses just in case. Enjoy your weekend.
And in Ontario too. We drove so we could stop and visit some family on the way back. I followed a car from Ontario most of the way back north 🙂 No French from them though haha

I ate a rhubarb pie and ice cream that Mum made and she barely used sugar, and I woke up with a hangover... Can't even imagine eating that key lime pie 🤣 but I'm a sucker for anything fried so those croquetas look the bomb.
The key lime pie is all sugar BEFORE they dip it in chocolate 😁 Croquetas are definitely yummy but I don't think they rate much above the pie on the healthy meter
