Imagine arriving in Bologna Italy at night, craving something to eat and not having the energy to dine out. Scoping their night markets and seeing what those have to offer doesn't sound like a bad idea to me in that situation. Mercato di Mezzo appeared to be the right solution in such an instance.
As we were staying around the central area of the city, Mercato di Mezzo (Middle Market) was just a stone's throw away. Before arriving at our final destination we enjoyed the magical ambiance of Italy. Almost every street was illuminated with strings of light and I was so engulfed by it all I forgot to take pictures. The only shot I was able to take were the lights with the lyrics from the famous John Lennon song.
When we finally arrived at the market I looked my eyes out at the diversity of fresh hand-made pastas. That's what this market is known for: fresh fruits and vegetables and hand-made pastas and a wide assortment of cheeses and cured meats. Enough for a charcuterie board.
Aside from the fresh or basic produce vendors, there are also food stall sellers, who purchase the base products from their neighbors and in turn sell the end product. It's a self sustaining cycle. There's even a restaurant or food court situated in the middle of the street, with enough seating and enough culinary options. Because of arriving a bit later in the evening we missed the busy crowd.
