Saludos a todos los integrantes de la comunidad de Hive Pets, ¿cómo están? Hoy es un placer para mí estar compartiendo con ustedes noticias nuevas sobre los más pequeños de la casa. Estar en compañía de tan tiernos angelitos viéndolos crecer poco a poco ha hecho de estos días difíciles algo más llevadero, es por ello que a riesgo de darles una subida de azúcar por tanta dulzura junta, he querido mostrarles este gran progreso que han tenido, además de una actualización general.
Greetings to everyone in the Hive Pets community, how are you? Today it is a pleasure for me to be sharing with you some news about the little ones of the house. Being in the company of such tender little angels watching them grow little by little has made these difficult days more bearable, that's why at the risk of giving you a sugar rush for so much sweetness together, I wanted to show you this great progress they have had, as well as a general update.
Tardaron un poco en abrir sus ojos, pero el momento llegó en algún punto a principios de mes. Debo decir que —por inexperiencia— tenía la creencia de que podría ver desde un principio el color de sus ojos, sin embargo no fue así, parece ser que los ojos de los gatos pasan por un proceso no sólo en términos de madurez, sino también respecto al color, por lo que voy a tener que esperar unas cuantas semanas más si quiero saber su color de ojos definitivo, así como tengo que esperar para saber cuáles son hembra y cuáles son macho.
It took a while for their eyes to open, but the moment came at some point at the beginning of the month. I must say that -out of inexperience- I had the belief that I would be able to see from the beginning the color of their eyes, however this was not the case, it seems that cats' eyes go through a process not only in terms of maturity, but also regarding color, so I will have to wait a few more weeks if I want to know their definitive eye color, just as I have to wait to know which ones are female and which ones are male.
De cualquier manera como no estoy siendo muy paciente por lo mismo de que quiero ponerles nombres, lo consulté con una amiga que tiene un poco de experiencia con gatos y me dijo que creía que dos son macho y una es hembra. Como es un lanzar los dados a la suerte no he nombrado propiamente a ninguno de los gatitos, sin embargo fue suficiente para ir pensando con seriedad en unos nombres, aunque tenía en mente desde un principio algunos, como ya dije con anterioridad, algo relacionado a la mitología griega, así que si los indicativos de mi amiga son correctos, tendremos a un Aquiles, un Atlas y una Atenea un casa.
Anyway, as I am not being very patient because I want to name them, I consulted with a friend who has some experience with cats and she told me that she believed that two of them are male and one is female. As it is a roll of the dice I have not properly named any of the kittens, however it was enough to think seriously about some names, although I had in mind from the beginning some, as I said before, something related to Greek mythology, so if my friend's indications are correct, we will have an Achilles, an Atlas and an Athena in one house.
Dejando la decepción de lado, Minina ha estado paseando por los diferentes rincones de la casa junto a los gatitos, quizás porque supo que una vez sus ojos se abrieran, estarían un poco inquietos y quería que estuviesen más seguros. Estaba todo perfecto cuando se encontraban atrincherados en una esquina del cuarto usado para almacenamiento, pero por alguna razón, pasadas unas semanas de tranquilidad mi mamá vio a la gata intentando sacar a uno de los gatitos de la casa, así que decidimos ayudarla en su intento por conseguir un nuevo sitio donde estar. Recordando haberla visto dentro del cuarto de invitados metiéndose en el gavetero que tiene uno de sus cajones roto, por eso fuimos hasta allí con ella detrás preguntándole si eso era lo que quería —hablar con los animales es algo normal ¿verdad?— y en efecto se fue hasta allí con los gatitos, fue rápida en cambiarse.
Disappointment aside, Minina has been wandering around the different corners of the house with the kittens, perhaps because she knew that once their eyes opened, they would be a little restless and she wanted them to be safer. Everything was perfect when they were barricaded in a corner of the room used for storage, but for some reason, after a few weeks of quiet my mom saw the cat trying to get one of the kittens out of the house, so we decided to help her in her attempt to get a new place to be. Remembering seeing her inside the guest room getting into the drawer that has one of her drawers broken, so we went over there with her in the back asking her if that was what she wanted -talking to animals is a normal thing right?- and indeed she went over there with the kittens, she was quick to change.
La estadía dentro del gavetero no duró demasiado puesto que se le hizo demasiado incómodo sin un soporte de donde apoyarse y con gatitos cayendo en reiteradas oportunidades, que aunque no se hicieran daño porque habían cojines, no era la situación ideal para nadie. Por eso decidió pasarlos a la cama de al lado luego de inspeccionarla un poco, pasando a los gatitos y quedándose en ese lugar por fin. Pero la verdad recientemente ha sido en cierto sentido un dolor de cabeza, porque los gatitos han adquirido una gran curiosidad y quieren explorar los alrededores, están empezando a descubrir el mundo, por lo tanto les tuvimos que colocar unos cuantos cojines por los lados de la cama para que en cualquier caso amortiguaran las caídas, y vaya que se han caído. En un principio no había problema porque los gatitos dormían la mayor parte del tiempo pero ahora no hay quien los detenga, ni siquiera su mamá.
The stay inside the drawer did not last too long since it became too uncomfortable without a support to lean on and with kittens falling repeatedly, which even if they did not get hurt because there were cushions, it was not the ideal situation for anyone. So she decided to move them to the next bed after inspecting it a bit, passing the kittens and staying there at last. But the truth recently has been in a sense a headache, because the kittens have become very curious and want to explore the surroundings, they are starting to discover the world, so we had to put a few cushions on the sides of the bed to cushion the falls in any case, and boy have they fallen. At first there was no problem because the kittens slept most of the time but now there is no stopping them, not even their mom.
Es por ello que decidí colocarlos en un nuevo sitio. Saqué ese mismo cajón roto del gavetero y lo coloqué en el suelo con unos cojines adentro y cerca en caso de que decidieran salirse, de esa manera no van a malograrse en su proceso para escaparse. Primero les coloqué un cojín grande esperando que estuviesen cómodos, pero ellos prefirieron en su mayoría estar en el rincón hasta donde no llega el cojín, típico de los gatos así que no me sorprendió. Sin embargo me pareció que les quedaba incómodo, así que decidí intentar poniéndoles un cojín menos voluminoso y parecen que estar algo mejor, aunque igual quieren seguir en el espacio donde no llega el cojín… supongo que no se puede hacer nada contra la voluntad de los gatos.
That is why I decided to put them in a new place. I took that same broken drawer out of the drawer and placed it on the floor with some cushions inside and nearby in case they decide to get out, that way they won't get in the way in their process to escape. First I put a large cushion on them hoping they would be comfortable, but they mostly preferred to be in the corner where the cushion doesn't reach, typical of cats so I wasn't surprised. However it seemed to me that it was uncomfortable for them, so I decided to try putting them a less bulky cushion and they seem to be a little better, although they still want to stay in the space where the cushion does not reach... I guess you cannot do anything against the will of the cats.
La gata ha estado muy agotada en este proceso de amamantar y cuidar de los pequeños, en algunos momentos puedo hasta sentir su estrés al mirarla. Hemos estado intentando ayudarla alimentándola bien porque sabemos el gasto que está teniendo en energía, pero sigue siendo un trabajo arduo para ella. No nos imaginamos el cómo sería si hubiese tenido más gatitos, la verdad fue un alivio ver que fueron tres y no ocho, como a veces pueden llegar a tener algunas.
The cat has been very exhausted in this process of nursing and caring for the little ones, at times I can even feel her stress looking at her. We have been trying to help her by feeding her well because we know how much energy she is expending, but it is still hard work for her. We can't imagine what it would be like if she had more kittens, it was a relief to see that there were three and not eight, as some of them can sometimes have.
Torpes pero encantadores, así los describiría. Debido a que ya han tenido algo de tiempo para adaptarse a ver, han dejado de ser temerosos para pasar a ser arriesgados, con un espíritu aventurero que me está poniendo nerviosa pero que es lo normal. Pasaron de no poder ponerse en pie a comenzar con carreras tentativas, porque aunque exista la voluntad, siguen sin manejar del todo sus extremidades, terminando en movimientos extraños que dan risa. De igual manera están jugando entre ellos.
Clumsy but charming, that's how I would describe them. Because they have already had some time to adapt to see, they have stopped being fearful to become risky, with an adventurous spirit that is making me nervous but that is normal. They went from not being able to stand up to starting with tentative runs, because even though there is the will, they still can't quite manage their limbs, ending up in strange movements that make me laugh. In the same way they are playing with each other.
Puedo decir que el más travieso de todos es el blanco, porque ha sido el más inquieto en comparación con los demás, siempre buscando la manera de explorar. Cuando los ponemos en el suelo para que se diviertan un rato, se mete en todo rincón que encuentra, intentando escalar cualquier cosa y jugueteando activamente con sus hermanos.
I can say that the most mischievous of all is the white one, because they have been the most restless compared to the others, always looking for ways to explore. When we put them on the floor to have fun for a while, they get into every corner they can find, trying to climb anything and actively playing with their siblings.
Por el contrario, el más oscuro se la pasa durmiendo más que todo, aunque sí sale a caminar por allí y juega con sus hermanos, pero hay veces que me asomo para ver lo que están haciendo y mientras los otros dos están por allí mirando las cosas de la habitación, este gatito se encuentra echándose una siesta muy cómodo. Este quizás se gane el puesto de favorito con Minina —y nosotros—por eso mismo, algo de tranquilidad entre todo el caos que ocasionarán sus hermanos.
The darker one, on the other hand, mostly sleeps, although this one does walk around and play with their siblings, but there are times when I peek in to see what they're doing and while the other two are over there looking at things in the room, this kitty is taking a very comfortable nap. This one may earn his place as a favorite with Minina -and us- for that matter, some peace and quiet amidst all the chaos their siblings will cause.
Hicimos una prueba para que se fuesen familiarizando con el perro, Toby, y salió excelente considerando que los gatitos no se pusieron ariscos sino todo lo contrario, se le acercaban curiosos para ver qué es lo que era, ni siquiera se asustaron cuando Toby los lamía en la cara. Para nosotros es muy importante que nuestras mascotas se lleven bien, así que esperamos no tener ningún incidente entre ellos.
We did a test to familiarize them with the dog, Toby, and it went excellent considering that the kittens did not get surly but on the contrary, they approached him curious to see what he was, they did not even get scared when Toby licked them in the face. It is very important to us that our pets get along well, so we hope not to have any incidents between them.
