Our New Fur Baby: Chase

in Hive Pets3 years ago (edited)

My family has been talking about it for quite a while. The two dogs we have (Butchoy & Butchay) are in their seniors and never produced any puppies together, not once. Maybe it's a hereditary thing. Their previous ancestors weren't able to produce much either or maybe it was the product of inbreeding (they are brother and sister), either way there was unlikely any heir coming, so my family and I slowly opened to the idea of adoption.

Butchoy, Butchay & Pluto

I already have three pets at home. Namely Butchoy, Butchay and Pluto the cat who you might know from my previous article on the Just Quaranthings series.

Although my babies are the best in the world, I kind of feel that there's still plenty of space in my family's heart other furry friends can occupy.

Fortunately, last week, one of my co-workers have puppies to give away. She already has six dogs to take care of and couldn't properly care anymore of another extra five puppies. So she decided to give them away to people she trusts will take care of them.

I was beyond honored when she asked me if I would be willing to adopt one of her babies. I guess I kind of built a reputation around being a pet momma of my happy and healthy furr babies.

I could tell you about each of them, but I think that alone is deserving of a separate blog post. Right now, I am just going to tell you all of the newest member of the posie:

MEET CHASE, THE PUPPY
I'm immortalizing this time when he can still fit in my bag pack's pocket

Taking care of a puppy is somewhat a first time in a long time thing for all of us back home. I think the last time my family took care of puppies was about a decade ago. I was still in high school then, and two of the puppies we took care of at that time grew up to be the Butchoy and Butchay our family know and love today.

I almost forgot that puppies are really literally just babies in dog form. The first few hours he arrived at the house, he already made a poo-poo and a wiss-wiss on the floor. And my brothers and I, who grew up with our mom taking care of these kinds of things while we were out because of school, would just plain look at each other "Who's gonna clean up the mess guys?".

We wanted to rename the puppy, but one of the conditions to keep him was also to keep the name his previous owner gave him. Well, Chase was pretty dashing name for the pup anyway, and it fits his personality because he just loved chasing us around.

At the first night at our house, he really didn't make much of a squeak. The poor thing was pretty homesick and still missed his siblings and his mom. Butchoy and Butchay were so curious of the newly arrived fluff ball and conducted several sniffing sessions to get to know the pup.

The cat seemed "chill" at the arrival of the new baby, but eventually introduced himself as well.

The second day, our little Chase was starting to come out of his shell. He turned out to be one playful little pup and started playing around and tugging on the old doggoes' tails. They didn't really appreciate the makulit little pup and his bites aplenty.

The next day, he started participating in our workouts. Mainly as a challenge to our focus hehe but he was a welcome addition in our routine. He even helped my brother better his push-ups:

Overall, I think our little Chase adjusted to home life quite well. He is really a silly little puppy and a wee-wee machine. We bent some of our house rules for him because he gets easily lonely in the living room when left alone, and even tries to walk up the stairs to no avail. We can't allow him in the bedrooms anymore because of his serial peeing tendencies, so he sleeps in the hallway outside our rooms instead.

Look at this pup, isn't he neat?

Wouldn't you think my collection's complete?

Wouldn't you think I'm the girl, the girl who has, everything?

Chase is a cutie 🥺 I like how your dogs sized him up first while Pluto waited for Chase to make the first move 😆
