Line tracing Fine Motor Activity PREWritting Set-up

in Home Edders3 years ago

Hey guys,

Here's a quick setup for this morning’s activity.

We did some line tracing on spirals and other different shapes with loose parts as a pre-writing/sensory activity.

All children develop as individuals.  Activities that develop a child's control of the small muscles of the hands (fine motor skills) allow children to make the precise movements necessary for forming letters and improve hand/eye coordination.
Straight, zig zag, and curved lines are all appropriate to practice around age 3.

Again, tracing is an effective way to teach handwriting. By having your child trace shapes and maze-like paths from left to right, top to bottom, or through jagged and curvy lines, you can help your child develop fine motor control. This can also help her learn how to orient her movements from top to bottom and left to right. [source]

You can draw different lines to trace to help practice the directionality skills children will need later to write all the different letters! I think this is the first stage towards writing.

Then the child should draw these lines using a pen/crayon.

And only then the graphic signs would be next.

This activity helps to boost fine motor skills and promote good eye-hand coordination, atention/concentration for toddlers.

I would even add creativity, as he has the free choice to use these decorative glass pebbles. You can combine them in colors or use a single color. It is interesting to note their choices in such activities.

If you don't have these glass pebbles, you can use pompoms, flowers, nuts & beans or colored beans, colored pasta, buttons etc.

We even did some Numbers Tracking Line cause you know that my little one loves numbers so why not?

Btw, for this activity you only need white paper, a marker and some little objects. You can use even pebbles you and your child picked it up from outside. Or leaves...

If you try this, let me know! For us was a really hit and my toddler asks me from time to time especially this activity! I guess it's because he likes the pebbles:d

Thanks for reading guys!

Hi, excellent post. Very good strategy for the development of fine motor skills, as well as encouraging the awakening of the imagination through the use of colours. This kind of strategies that combine hand movements, attention through the sense of sight and even touch allow the child to take ownership of the delicate movements of his hands. It is extremely important to adapt their fingers and hand positions for future tasks. Thank you for sharing a detailed and dedicated explanation.

Thank you darling!!!! Actually we did this activity again, today! He is really into it and I like to offer/setup activities he is interested in!
I love this activity especially because it requires attention and patience! And I also like to observe and see what color does he use or his way of getting through this activity, till the end. It's interesting because every time you see new things in his way of getting done this activity! :)

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

cool idea! and looks very nice!

Thank you! We did it today again, but this time on Easter theme!

Your posts are bringing back so many memories of being at my grandmother's. She didn't do the extra interactive parts, but always had buttons and things like this for us to play with. We just masse up the other bits ourselves, as we were older by the time she was in our lives more than for the occasional visit.

ohh I imagine you have so many beautiful memories right? Don't you have a wonderful feeling remembering happy moments since you were little/younger?
I love to spend time with family/friends (or just on my own) having a good time talking about our past and our special moments we lived, funny, beautiful memories we all have! It's ust wonderful to me!
Thank you for sharing one of yours! :x:X

Wow, really nice activities for those cute little hands. 😍❤️

Thank you darling!! ❤️❤️

It is a beautiful and dedicated way to develop fine motor skills in children. I love it, because watching him pick up the little pieces I can imagine what it will be like when he starts to use the pencil because it helps so much with writing. Congratulations

Thank you for commenting and stopping by! Actually, my babyboy started to write from the age of 1 and a half. Writtting came naturally for him and is soooo sooo amazing! His writting is like the writting of a 6/7 yrs old. :)

This is such a cool idea, I love it, especially because of all these cool colors..
Very creative as well..

Thank you! its so easy to make...I love activities that dont require a lot of time because life with a young toddler its not that easy :D:D and you need to move fast :))

haha so true! going to the toilet alone is a luxury isn't it :)

Tell me about it ! =)))))

Educated people have better employment opportunities, and they can find good-paying jobs more quickly (check issues in education ). They also have better control over their lives. They tend to be politically active, and are more likely to file complaints about unsafe conditions. They are also more likely to adopt pro-environmental behaviors when they are adults.
