(Esp-Eng) Instilling Love of Country in Times of Crisis

Hello my Hivelovers, today I would like to share with you a topic that I have been thinking about for days.

I have a preschool child and within the Home Education Program that is being carried out here in Venezuela, I have had to be a mom and a teacher, like most Venezuelan mothers.

The thing is that currently they started to teach my son in the Pedagogical Project to teach them about Our Country Venezuela, which I think is fabulous to start from a young age to show them the Nation in which we coexist.

image.png
The Map of Venezuela made by my 5 year old son

I have been teaching them about the patriotic symbols and the natural symbols, as well as the States and geographic location, however I reflect on how complicated it has been to try to show them the beautiful and positive aspects of our land when since they are born we have deprived them of many things for the sake of the economic and social crisis we are going through.

Our youngest children have had to use ecological diapers or strange brands when we used to buy the most popular ones.

We almost choose a thousand streets so that we don't have to go near a Mac Donalds and they don't ask for the Happy Meal, and if we give them one, it's a prize every so often.

We have taught them to adapt to the "When you can, son", or "I'll buy it for you another day".

We must be sincere, to teach this feeling and love for the country becomes another uphill task at this time when they observe other situations in the street, and when they grow up they perceive it more.

So much so that high school students are not even enthusiastic about pursuing university studies because their plans are to emigrate or simply start working because studying does not give them the money they need to survive.

We have always heard the set of values that should be taught from home and definitely the national sentiment has joined these values because it is up to us to try to show them the positive side of life and of a Venezuela we knew and dream of having again.

So let's be fathers, mothers, now teachers but also patriots and I clarify that it has nothing to do with distinctions or political positions but with the love for the homeland that we must instill whether inside or outside our borders.

My son spontaneously colored his fingers with the colors of the Venezuelan flag.

So that in this way, those of us who remain on Venezuelan soil will continue to be proud of our roots and those who have left will be able to foster in their children a love for the country that gave them life.
I hope you liked this post.

Thank you for being there

Abrazos

Hello @nildasalazar Nice drawing by your son. I know it must be hard to try to explain to children what is happening during this health crisis.

Is the cursive writing your instructions to him?

Thank you for sharing. All children over the world have been disrupted in their education and have had to adjust in one way or the other.

Hello friend, thank you for taking the time to read me, teaching in the midst of this crisis that they observe daily has been difficult, even more so if we want to give them positive values and attitudes. Yes, those are the instructions that the teachers give us over the phone to assign them in the notebooks. A hug
