My Hive is Growing

in #hive4 years ago

Hello, and welcome to my page!

As the title says, my hive is growing. I've reached a bit more than 7000 hive power now, 7039 and change, to be a bit more precise. I've managed to get that much hive power by a combination of exchanging all of my steem for hive over the past few months, and post rewards from posting 2-3 times a week.

I started my power down on steem several weeks before hive was started, so I was in a bit better position to start exchanging steem for hive once hive was a thing. I went through Rudex and Blocktrades to complete the exchanges. Basically, I sent my steem to Rudex and exchanged it for bitshares, then sent the bitshares to blocktrades and swapped them for hive, which was deposited into my hive account.
The exchange rate was a bit different week, but I wasn't too worried about it. I just took my weekly steem powerdown and sent it through.

I had been sitting on the hive that I got from the the last few exchanges, and the hive that I got from trading my HBD, waiting to accumulate enough for a big power up. I already had a bit more than 6000 hive power, but I wanted to wait until had enough post rewards that I could power up to 7000. I finally got to that point yesterday and with a power up of 720 hive, most of what I had accumulated, it was enough to push me over 7000 hive power.

I'm guessing that this was the last big power up I'll be able to make for quite a while. I have no more steem to exchange for hive, so I don't think I'll be getting any more large amounts of hive in my account any time soon. I guess it's back to the old way of gaining hive power, post rewards.

I would like to be able to post more often than 2-3 times a week, but I also want to write decent quality posts. I haven't had a lot of different things to write about so far this summer. I also have found myself not motivated to write a post as often as not. Between sleep problems this summer, and distractions from the internet, I just haven't had the ambition to write as much as I could.

Most of what I've been writing about lately is my gardens. I decided that I didn't want to write about my gardening every day because it would be too repetitive and might lead to lower quality posts. I have also written a few times about a couple of my summer projects, but I usually wait until I have enough material to make a decent post about each project.

I've written about some of the work I've done on my pickup truck, putting a flatbed on the back. I think I'm about due to write another post about that subject. My last post about the truck is here.

Another thing I've been working on is my Schwinn chopper bicycle. I don't yet have enough material to write an update about that project, but hopefully that will be soon. If you're curious about that project you can find part 1 and part 2 at these links.

I have another project that I've been working on this summer, I'm rebuilding an old 12 foot travel trailer. Last year I wrote a series of posts about rebuilding the back end of the trailer, but I haven't written anything about the work this summer. I've been waiting because my progress on that project has been pretty slow.

I haven't been getting any work done on my guitar amplifier projects, I usually don't work on them much during the summer months, I'd rather be outside enjoying the warm weather.

I guess that's about all I have for this post.
Thanks for stopping by to check it out.
