A while ago, the #LadiesofHive had a question of the week that asked you to show your space where you do your Hive-ing the most. I took a few photos to make the post, and then life happened. I have many half-done posts on my desktop waiting for the stars to align in the correct position so they too can be written.

The thumbnail photo shows you my wonderful desk. The desk was made years ago by my son and his grandfather, who is an old-time carpenter. I had just passed my state board tests to become a nail technician. At the same time, I was working full-time at the Library. I was planning on doing nails part-time in my house and needed a table.

@Econinstant's Grandfather and I had a talk about what I wanted to be made. Ecoinstant and his Grandfather built a table so well put together you could dance on it. The sad part was the desk was living in my basement for eons while I was using an old second-hand desk from a friend of my husband's. When that desk finally started falling apart, I knew there was a wobbly table down in the basement I could bring up until such time I could get a new desk.

While I was uncovering the table, my eyes kept looking at my nail table/sewing table/yarn winding table, and I went, "Hmmmm."

I grabbed my measuring tape and made a layout of my kitchen area and all the tables I wanted in that area. I once again tore down my computer and moved everything around. What I didn't consider was the narrow walkway into the kitchen when everything was set up as I wanted it. If I kept it the way I had it when hubby brought home groceries, I was risking life and limb by getting hit with bags of food.

With more rearranging of tables and cords and lots of cables, I finally made the newest Hive working area in my kitchen. I was in love with how everything looked and felt. I now had room for my art stuff along with my computer and monitors.

By moving the keyboard, I had plenty of room to do any art project I wanted and a sturdy table to clamp the camera to. Now the camera would not wobble when I moved. I was in heaven. I then spent a month down at my Mom's very ill and came home, still very sick, to nothing that looked or felt normal. It took a long time to finally feel comfortable at my new desk. The new chair @IntheNow told me about, which was on sale at Walmart, helped too!

Here I will stop and tell you about a young man that helped a stranger. My laptop was ancient and having a lot of issues. If I turned it on and used it, it started to overheat in about twenty minutes. I called the tech store I had taken my laptop to and explained the problem to the young man. We had talked for a while the first time I went into the computer store. He had remembered me. He also knew I use my computer to help manage my daily pain.

The young man told me not to worry. He said he would help me out. He dropped off the desktop computer he made using parts that the store would be throwing away on his way home. Over the years, I have taken my crypto, which I have earned by blogging on Hive, to replace computer parts. Yes, there are still wonderful young people alive in this world, and I was lucky enough to meet one.

After taking the photos of my desk area, I realized when I was cropping them that in from of me are a few beautiful crystals that @Katrina-Ariel sent to me after she got back from Krakow.

Under that is my second favorite book ever. Outlander by Diana Gabaldon, which I had read before it was popular. The book below, by the same author, called Dragonfly in Amber, is the longest, most boring book I ever had to read. I learned more about Scottish history than I ever wanted to know. Yet, you had to read the story to find out what happened next to Claire and Jamie. You just had to!

Next to that are my glasses. I will not admit that I need to wear them all the time. My mouse sits on top of a @GuiltyParties mouse pad that I received when I went to @Enginewitty's @TheAlliance Block Party in Colorado. One of my favorite memories of that weekend was sitting outside with Enginewitty freezing our butts off on a cold concrete step while talking to @JackMiller for a few hours.

Tucked back in the corner is a shot glass I received from being on the show Hots & Shots. Inside the glass are important tiny pieces of tech stuff I do not want to lose. Yes, organizing at its best!

On top of the right-hand monitor is a gnome @Brisby sent me the first time she shipped me cookies! There is a message in a bottle hidden below decks to take out and read when I need it most to.

The second monitor sits on my most favorite book ever. I have read Stephen King, The Stand at least ten times. The first time reading it, I was about thirteen or fourteen. I loved that book. It made sense to me. It still does to this day.

I hated the movies, but the book is a ride that you do not want to end while reading it. When the original uncut version came out, I purchased a second-hand copy. This is why there is not a dust jacket on it. I would recommend reading the longer 1,153-page version of the book.

I will go out on a limb and say that I am sure in the world today, this book has once again become popular given the way the world is. Let us hope it stays fiction.
