The News
My personal Hive news is that I finally hit 80k HP today. It has been a long road. I am likely to spoil it as I will need to power down a little pay for my trip to @Hivefest. It is only right that my crypto earnings make a contribution.
This song came to mind. I am someone who lived through that decade.
I hope to see lots of you in Amsterdam in September.
It is good to see the $HIVE price recovering a little right now as that will mean I do not need to power down as much. It should also have some effect on the ticket prices.
Friday Follows
- I always love to see other people doing #FollowFriday posts. @tdctunes stepped up this week. Anyone is welcome to use the tag as they like.
- I did a post this week with some statistics on where Hivers are located. @demotruk has done much more with the data in a series of posts. The data is out there for anyone to use and I love seeing more graphs. I want to see more people compiling lists of local users as you cannot do it all from queries.
- Brighton musician @philsaatchi has put out an original song on Hive. It is great fun.
- Witness @shmoogleosukami was one of those at the Hive UK meetup last weekend. I was not able to get there, but it looked great fun.

The Doghouse
There is another phishing attack happening on Hive. Be very wary of any comments promising free money and do not log into sites you do not fully trust.
You may have seen that over on Blurt there are disagreements over plans to code a major account off the chain as it is felt they are disruptive. That blockchain is not really decentralised, so the developers can do such things. Some people are talking about coming back to Hive, including this guy who says he would be attacking certain users. He has shown how unpleasant he can be and so he would not be welcome anyway. His Blurt funds have lost a lot of value, so I doubt he could do much damage here.

Hivefest is less than three months away, but there is time for other events over the summer. I may organise one near me once I am over the COVID. All that is really needed is a time and a location. What matters are the people who turn up and the conversations they have. Online conversations are fun, but real life ones have better bandwidth.

I just hit that recently too! Its a good feeling, I had been on seventy for so long but that was because I powered down a little for Splinterlands Chaos whatever.
I saw his threat! I laughed and thought, well,, you wont be buying much HP with your losses! :OD
We probably will see some returners seeing as it is looking a bit ropey over there, In fact I saw one the other day
Cheers :) Levelling up takes a while when you get up here. It takes me about a year to go up one on my reputation.
I am not against people coming back to Hive, but they have to be good community members and some burnt their bridges already. They don't have to suck up, but if they attack people like this they can't expect a warm welcome.
There are also people who only used Steem or Blurt out of ignorance or through being told Hive was a nasty place. Everyone deserves a chance.
I found one case of someone who was brought to Blurt and some lowlife copied their stuff to Hive. They said they would never use Hive, but I know that is due to them being put off by someone I know. Is it really so bad here?

I am not against that either, people can post where they please and live by the approval of the community. I wouldn't extend a welcome mat for the Pedo-Finder General but everyone else yes.
I think most people find it great here. There is probably a reason there is a concentration of fuddery on the other platforms and that is because some people just cant behave!

Sorry for the late reply, we are struggling with power cuts here.
We would have to fly to Paris and then take a flight to Amsterdam that will cost the 2 of us the price of a house. So yes, it will be too far and too expensive for us.
Believe it or not, I have many South African friends on Hive and some of them even knows about the Papillon charity, but I have never met any of them in the flesh. Strange4 but true.
I know that there is a guy that is busy now to try and arrange a meet up for all of us down here, so let's see what happens.
The ones up far in the north of the country might arrange their own meet up if are successful here.

I'm lucky to be so close to so many Hivers. Europe is not so big, but it has been made harder for we Brits to travel recently :( I hope many more will join Hive so everyone will know another user nearby.

It is my son in law's birthday today and they live in Reading. Been trying to get him on Hive, but not yet successful.
It will take time for people to wake up to Hive and then we also have the problem of not many that will last on the journey.

'Eighties' is better than I remember, but still not as good as 'Love like Blood'. I love the fact that punks with studded jackets and Mohicans liked Killing Joke.. but they weren't really punk. Nice achievement... 80k.

Thanks for the heads up! I was completely unaware of the phishing wave going on. It has been a while for me, but its good to be updated to not get scammed.
No clue who WTP is but I am happy to have never seen him on my page. I can't even take him serious the way he is talking, sounds like one of those whining babies. Even if he's right in whatever way the drama points to, his attitude does not help his situation.

I'm still having fun, so I'll keep doing what I do. There's all sorts of stuff that goes on here with most people being unaware. I just hang out in places where it gets discussed. It shows that things are not as bad as some make out if you had no idea.
I am excited for Hivefest. It will be good to see some old friends and meet some newer ones for the first time.
