When I booked everything last month, it seems like it was a long way away and now suddenly D day is here. I still feel a bit unprepared. Actually, I was mega unprepared when I booked my flight last month and didn't check the correct date. I will be flying from UK into Amsterdam on Thursday 15th, but silly me booked it a day too early for Wednesday 14th instead! I tried to change the date but that would cost me £62. If I book an extra night hotel in Amsterdam, that would cost me £100. Then I found out if I buy another ticket it will only cost me £37!!!
I'm not staying at the HiveFest official hotel Volkshotel so I need to find out where each day's venue is, where we'll be going for dinner etc, and then decide the most economical transport ticket to get. Definitely need to get it sorted out this weekend as I want to keep my cost down and to make sure I don't get lost in Amsterdam
Then I need to finalise my OCD presentation deck. The draft is done but still waiting for @acidyo still to give me his input (tagging him to add pressure 🙃). So if on the day, my presentation is shit, blame acid, if it's a great presentation I will take full credit for it 😉.
Another presenter at HiveFest is @tcdctunes, a user who has been on Hive for just a year. We need more newbies and makers like him contributing to Hive growth!! He's making/mixing/creating a piece of music especially for HiveFest and have asked attendees to contribute audio clips. I promised him I'll do one but forgot about it, but finally got round to do that earlier this week. I can't wait to hear his creation. And finally packing. Got to do that last minute, but it's only for a few days. I expect the weather in Amsterdam won't be too different from UK so I will be travelling light which means I won't have my laptop with me. I always feel a bit vulnerable in case anything crops up. That will limit my online presence and normal curation work for Pinmapple and OCD, but I'm sure the team will cover for me whilst I enjoy myself at HiveFest!
ANSWERS TO THE SEPTEMBER HPUD GUESSING CONTEST
This month's HPUD Guessing Contest is to guess what training I attended recently. It was run by the charity Guide Dogs, and the objective was to teach us how to help visitors with visual impairment to move around the See Monster safely.
There were 14 entries, a bit less than normal but most people guessed correctly. Congrats to those who did, and here's everyone's HPUD Caring Club badge for the month. Thanks for your entry and look forward to your entry in the October HPUD Guessing Contest.

Being new doesn't stop you from attending, anyone can attend even if you just joined and in fact it's a perfect way to integrate into the community. But I am aware there are other factors to consider as well to attend HiveFest, so it takes quite a lot of coordination and planning. I'm sure there will be plenty of opportunity in the coming years!
Yes, it needs a good preparation beforehand. I'd better prepare for next year 😅.

I totally missed your Hive PUD guessing game this month,
some disconcerting RL issuesbut this is interesting training indeed!It must be quite an experience being in the UK at this time! We sat watching BBC news last night and the edited broadcast after the proclamation of the new King this morning, full of pomp & ceremony like only the British can do!
I'm a big Diana fan & still believe there was more to that tragic accident, not the right time to be talking about it, but...

Well, I just imagine, every time I sit down to watch BBC News I end up being glued to the television. The Queen was a remarkable woman!
I actually got rid of some frustration by writing about it, our friends whose home was destroyed in the floods, are now faced with their house being stripped of all plumbing & electrical fixtures, pipes, wiring etc. Whatever can be taken has been ripped out & our police remain complacent and totally useless. It really is so upsetting that this is what's become of our police force.
I must zip my mouth or I'll start again!

The trick on the stage is not to think about ourselves, but about the message we would like to transmit to the audience. Focus on that, and of course if you go well prepared you will have more confidence.
We, musicians practice the compositions at home, many many many times :D if you can, try to practice your presentation at home, and find some audience too for that ;)
Thanks for the advice! I'll definitely run through the presentation first at home so I know if I will finish in 5 minutes or keep rambling on and get to 1/4 of the slides by the end of the slot 😃
