Share Your Natural Medicine Images to Win! (100 HIVE ON OFFER, CONTEST CLOSES SAT 28 AUGUST)

in #hivestockimages4 years ago (edited)

IF YOU ARE READING THIS POST, I EDITED THE OLD CHALLENGE BY ACCIDENT. PLEASE READ THE LATEST CHALLENGE POST PINNED IN NATURAL MEDICINE.

What fabulous photos were shared for Week 1 of this challenge!!!! I ended up having to change the way I recognised and awarded contributors, as there was almost too many images for me to include entirely in one post. After discussion with @minismallholding, I decided to publish the winners of Week 1 under categories on the @lotusshares account, setting each person whose photos were used a 5 percent beneficiary. I also only am selected the clearest, sharpest and most well composed pictures, as they are the ones that will be more likely to be used by the Hive community.

image.png

I'm sure you will agree with my decision to award this photograph 20 HIVE - thanks @qwerrie for your gorgeous shot! Remember, YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE A PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER TO WIN.

I've been saving my favourites as they come up in the STOCK IMAGES community, putting them in a desktop folder marked STOCK IMAGES. I'll be using them as background photos for NATURAL MEDICINE thumbnails, and if I use your photo, you'll be awarded with a small beneficiary. So the more you enter, the more chance you have to earn from the photographs you contribute.

image.png

How does this work?

  • Hive users nominate their photographs through posting in the community or simply using the #hivestockimages tag.
  • This allows other Hivers to know what images might be used
  • We can search within the community for stock images to use, setting the photographer or blogger a small beneficiary, if required

Natural Medicine would like to add to the photo pool by creating a post with a number of 'natural medicine' images, posted via @lotushares under the relevant categories through the week. Earnings will be used towards upvotes.

Add your photographs as a comment below, and we'll reward each entry with LOTUS (plus burn the total amount distributed by sending it to @null)

At the end of the week, we'll do the same thing - post the best under categories under @lotusshares, setting you as part beneficiary, and the rest towards powering up @lotusshares. This will help anyone looking for stock images under that topic to find them easily.

Remember @lotusshares is used to reward delegators and vote on excellent Natural Medicine content.

What do I get out of it?

  • You will be set as part beneficiary on the 'wrap up' post.
  • You will be credited for the image, gaining more exposure for your blog.
  • Anyone wishing to use your image MUST credit you in the future and, if required by you, set you as post beneficiary.
  • You will be in the running to win a total of 100 HIVE, judged by @minismallholding and @artemislives
  • All entries will be given some LOTUS to sell, stake, burn or transfer (new users should always be favoured so that they gain some LOTUS to play with too!)

What kind of images can I share?

The photographs should be sharp and clear, and original. Try taking photographs of some of the following topics.

You could also contribute graphic images, botanical drawings, line drawings or cartoons.

What should I take photographs of?

  • Herbs and medicinal plants (please tell us botanical and common name)
  • Herbal preparations etc tincturing, alchemy, pestle and mortar, herbal vinegars
  • Clinical natural medicine settings eg consultation rooms
  • Crystals
  • Natural medicine books eg stacks of books in a 'natural' setting
  • Yoga and meditation photography
  • Healthy eating
  • 'Wellness' buzzwords in text, such as the below image. You might find inspiration by searching key wellness words.
  • Massage & physical therapy images
  • Passive images to convey rest, peace and sleep
  • Earth connection images to convey grounding, earth-healing and connection

Picture by Maxvodo On Unsplash - Let's get great images on HIVE!

Can I create a post with a selection of photographs and use THAT as my entry, rather than a comment?

Yes, of course. Make sure you drop the post link under this post, and post within the Stock Image community. Title your post: STOCK IMAGES [TOPIC] - for example, STOCK IMAGES: HERBS

Do I have to buy and burn LOTUS to enter?

No. But we sure do appreciate it, as it helps add value to the token, which benefits us all.

Tips

You can take photos either with your smart phone or a fancy camera. As long as they are clear and crisp, they'll be perfect. Look at how wonderfully sharp the below photograph of Centella Asiatica is by @vannour on HIVE. Try searching for 'how to take better photographs on my smart phone' if you're new to the photography game.

We suggest a minimum pixel size of 800 x 500 and that you don't exceed 1500 x 1000.

Have fun and happy snapping!

My favourite is the second one, with the pink and purple flowers. And there I was thinking I didn't like pink and purple any more! 😆

It is my favorite too. Flowers start with white color, then they turn to pink and later when they dry turn to purple, sometimes blue.

Gorgeous photos!!!

Great idea.... I have a ton of hemp (CBD) flowers and seedling photos from my Mystical Medicinal Herb Garden. #hivestockimages

Oh that's a very cool start!

!ENGAGE 15

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

I realised we still don't have hemp images on the Stock Images index. Do you think you could do some up in a post for it?

What do you need ? I have shared tons .... from seeds, to sprouts, seedlings, plants, flowers, dried Buds, Nugs, herb.... literally hundreds of photos. Maybe thousands. I don’t get many big upvotes from my original herb photography on Hive these days so I stopped sharing them here. I get $ 3,000 and $ 1,000 $$ from Smoke and Blurt though .... different blogs for different content I suppose.

Probably the most typically recognisable ones. 😉

I completely forgot to even check Blurt out!

Lots of photographers and original artists have moved there.

A gift of abundance from my girls and one of my favourite photos. Probably not the highest quality, but my camera's not that fancy.

Look at those blue eggs!!!!

Really excited to be sharing images, here is my Twofold story Stock Images: Healthy Food/my Hive testimony
20200105_170149.jpg

I had in mind to gather tons of different subjects images and each creators sell them for a fee to each buyer , same as @ats-david did with digital in different style , but could be done that way too .
This is a very good exchange for everyone in photography and art

hi! my 1st post with edible, medicinal and toxic mushrooms images.
didnt received any feedback on my question about the watermarks...

Hey, saw you got the feedback - sorry, we often get distracted with so much going on at natural medicine! @riverflows

GREAT CHALLENGE and will be awesome to be easily able to use generic-natural-medicine images whilst supporting another Hive community member.

Well I had intended to do a post first with food photos, but decided to take @artemislives suggestion to add some fitness photos in case anyone wants to do some movement as medicine posts. ;) Sorry Marike for blowing up your notifications! 😂 I'll burn some LOTUS now for support.

Awesome!!!!! Thought about you this morning as I tried to do sit ups, and failed!

We can learn from everyone about natural medicine.

@minismallholding, @artemislives, suddenly I have a question. what is your opinion on waterwarks for this Hive Stock Images pool? small marks crediting the author, or marks with the Hive logo... might be a good idea, or bad?? I never bother to add my watermarks to the images I upload, but this time, I suddenly consider it might be the case worth it? I didnt read anything on it in initial post (or maybe missed). guide me pls.

Really the choice is yours to make. What I would say, however, is that if you put pictures up for others to use, they'd probably prefer it not to have a watermark. You could, of course, ask them to come to you personally to get the watermark free version, so that you have a bit more knowledge and control of who's using them, but if there are other similar photos, it would probably be easier for them to use those instead. Therefore, you might be putting people off using them.

I prefer to keep things simple. If you say thats up to e, means you dont feel / dont consider this to be important, then I will dont be obsessed with it. (idea of those images having a nice HIVE logo, still attracts me and looks sympatico!)

Keeping it simple is often the best approach.
It's important to those who consider it important. 😊

Wonderful initiative. I'll have to start postings stock photos for Hive as I already post such photos to stock photo agencies. They require as big images as possible, for web I usually export with 1920 px the longer side. I suppose you're looking for 72 ppi and not 300 as here they're going to be used only online?

Great initiative, I'll try to find some time to post some pics.

Mine are pretty poor offerings compared to some of these, but as I'm a judge, I figure I might have a chance. 😜 🤣

I thought I'd join in just for fun anyway and I've been been burning the Lotus too, because I'm a pyro. 😉 100 for each comment seems very reasonable.

Awesome!! We will be burning for each photo too... I love the smell of burning LOTUS in the morning!!!!

Breathe deep. Absorb that cremated goodness! 😆

Wild Oregano is probably one of the most potent "anti-microbe" on the planet.

What are the 5 types of microbes?

  1. Viruses
  2. Bacteria
  3. Archaea
  4. Fungus
  5. Protists.

I will write a post about anti-microbes soon. :)
