"I am a New Pioneer."
This is a mantra that I have been telling myself more and more over the last 10 years. At first it began as a small tapping on the back on my mind but as the years went by it has become an
I am inspired by the pioneers of our past. When I began to think about what it took to settle Canada, the land I now call home, I knew that there was another way to live TODAY. A way that was founded upon the same values that had sustained the generational roots of yesterday. There was a way to BE that was different. I began to call this, "Being a New Pioneer.".
The pioneers who went before us were adventurous souls who were determined to live free. They banded together and put their boots firmly on the ground. They found it in themselves to overcome the obstacles that nature and mankind threw in-front of them. These were resilient people; self-sufficient in ways that we have all but forgotten today.
Thinking about their toil I realized that I had no excuses. Today's innovations and automation made it easier than ever to succeed and a blueprint for overcoming our own constraints had already been laid. I resolved then and there to listen to the beckoning past. I would throw myself into the river and see where it's current would take me.
Starting this blog and taking you all along for the journey seemed like the first step that I should take. I hope that what I am doing here inspires you all to become New Pioneers for future generations to follow.
Sincerely,
Wil Metcalfe

Hello! I wish you a good time on Steem.
Thank you @wilku! I certainly am having a good time! How about you? Looks like your taking pictures of Italy right now! That’s pretty sweet! 😁
Thanks mate... Yeah I am trying to post some my collection of photos... I really appreciate your comment...
Your very welcome! These types of photos are great because they give me a sense of what life in Italy is like so I’m looking forward to more of your content. :)
When are you going to post again I really want to see what you have in store next
Hi @tornadoman! I'm glad your excitedly anticipating my next post... Which will be coming very soon... As soon as I finish sorting through the dead accounts I have been following that is. Un-following these accounts has been taking a bit longer than I originally thought it would... but I think it's important enough to de-clutter them in order to focus my energies. I also think it's also a really good time to do this. With Bitcoin dropping from 22K down to 6K I get to see who's here for the love of it and who is only here for the potential "gains".
If you follow my comments you will see that I still am quite active. I really think that what most people are missing is the value in driving depth of conversation here on Steemit. We have been trained by Facebook and Twitter to skim along the surface of our conversations. I think this is a shame and I'm certain we are missing a whole dynamic of what connecting is all about here on Steemit... I guess that's one of the reasons I like to upvote the comment section so heavily... I want to encourage deeper connection and thought.
What do you think of this concept?
I think the concept of it is great because you are helping some minnows earn more
Yeah! I think you get it. Not everyone does... For me it's all about valuing human connection and the effort it takes to communicate. It's all about driving depth in relationships and together establishing a solid base with-which we can all learn together as a community.
I strongly believe that when we support others they support us. It's a law just as powerful as gravity... it's called the law of the harvest.
So yeah! I wonder how many people we can get together in one place who will get this concept... I looked all over Steemit... and it seems like hardly anyone is valuing comments... On Facebook and Twitter I gave up trying... But here on Steemit... We have a chance to change this culture. I hope that we can all move away from a social model where everyone is talking and no one is listening...
I don't know if you have noticed this... but do you think we can change things here on Steemit?
I think if we both resteem each other’s content and create post that speak to them and share our stuff on YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Then we can grow. I also think that if we explain what steemit is to people then they will join and find out that it’s a wonderful place.
Do you think we can get enough members to join our community and explain what are goals are and why it’s important to help new minnows.
I don't really resteem posts at this point @tornadoman. I'm establishing my channel at this point so in order to keep the branding in my messaging clear I consider this to be an important protocol.
As for YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram I am leaving those platforms behind. I realize that this means not having as large an audience but it also allows me the time & attention to focus on making my Steemit efforts that much better. I don't think much about telling people on those mediums about Steemit. I think that if we focus on making Steemit the place to be they will naturally be drawn to this platform and away from the others... Just like I was.
I also think that if we produce quality content people, be they minnows, dolphins, or whales, will be attracted to our content. It's sort of like fishing... You have got to be patient. Most of the time the fish won't bite in the first 30 seconds... and if they do then great! :D
It’s better than YouTube because I make more on here and I get to meet new friends
@newpioneer You told that you planned to open your fitness blog.. You can do that with a bang by associating with @actifit team. They have sponsored athlets and fitness trainer promoting actifit. Users are growing exponentially and already there are 4500 users and counting. I have already talked in their discord about you and they are happy to associate with you. This is amazing opportunity for you.
This is their recent update on the project.
https://steemit.com/utopian-io/@actifit/actifit-updates-actifit-io-sponsored-athletes-utopian-vipo-and-more
I think you should join them at this early stage. What do you think??
Thanks for pointing me to this project @kpreddy. I took a quick look at it the other day with plans to return and take a better look later. It seems like a promising project and your right... Getting into things during the early stages is always fun and promising! Thanks for talking me up on discord by the way. That's great!
You're welcome! Finding right talent and letting them know about such wonderful projects give me pleasure too.😊😊
Hello again, I was just wondering if you could follow me and upvote some of my post because I’m trying to grow as a teenage steemian and earn some money for college
hey brother! I have seen your writing. You are doing great. You will definitely get the support you deserve if you write in similar way. I have seen your you tube channel too. Be consist and develop a strategy on how to make followers. Just make good and meaningful comments. definitely people see your blog. @newpioneer himself read some of my articles and appreciated them. Only one suggestion-Engage engage enagage....
Ok
When you are full on here... you might not need or want to go to college... Don't tell you parents I said this! hahaha! :D
But yeah... What I mean is that Steemit is a great place to learn about the world (and meet great people). It's a great place to self educate yourself... and honestly... If your cultivating life long learning which is an investors full time occupation... You probably won't need the old school J.O.B. a college education points you towards... Especially if your starting out so young.
Think about it... $100 compounded over a 50 years... and $100 compounded over only 10 years... Which is going to be the most life changing? The earlier you start the better off you'll be! I'm actually excited for you! I'm imagining my life if I had stumbled into investing at the age of 17 years of age... The world is yours if you take hold of it @tornadoman! :)
Followed and watched your Youtube videos!
I could make this a job if I earn more on each post. If you would like to help me out more you could try out steemauto to auto upvote your favorite steemians. And I thank you for the support.
Yours truly, Tornadoman
Hi @tornadoman. Seeing as I have worked hard to accumulate what Steem I have to this point I'm pretty careful about the delegation of my Steem Power and auto-upvoting. I also view this as an opportunity to democratically vote (via the manual use of my capital) for what I believe in and what content I want to see more of here on Steemit. I hope that you understand where I'm coming from.
I didn’t say you had to delegate anything or auto upvote but I get what you are saying
I know that @tornadoman. Seeing as this is a public discussion that others can read I was speaking in general terms for all eyes currently following this stream.
Ok

Yeah! The last 2 weeks have been busy for me... I have been sifting through the list of people I follow here on Steemit and un-following the dead/inactive accounts. I thought this would be easy but it actually took quite a lot of time and energy... Now that I'm done weeding through those accounts I will be able to focus more on my content and quality followers. So yeah! Mission accomplished!

Hey wil! I guess I found you on LinkedIn. 😊😊😀
hahaha! Your very resourceful @kpreddy! :D
@newpioneer,you seem to be a fitness freak. Have you downloaded actifit app. It is fun. You will monetize your gym time.
You are indeed correct. I have been a personal trainer for 10 + years now. It's another hat I wear!
I'll have to check out that app. It sounds interesting! :D
I have seen your bio in your website. I'm stunned to see your 6 month results. Even I want to focus on my body and get it shaped. I think I can take some pretty good tips from you.😀😀
Thank you for taking the time to read my trainer bio @kpreddy. :)
Those results actually were made in 3 months time! :)
But yeah! I plan on opening another Steemit account for my fitness stuff at a later time... I'll have plenty of fitness and healthy living tips to share over there! I'll let you know when I launch it. Shouldn't be to long to wait... But my heart is really in launching the New Pioneer blog this summer! :)
hope to see your new blog as early as possible 😊😊!!
I just did a contest if you wanna join
I normally don't do contests but what sort of contest is this @tornadoman?
Steem basic income it gives new users a chance of earning by receiving a upvote on every post. You can buy up to 125 shares and I have 3 so I get 1 cent for one post but the voting power differs each time
I see... Honestly! I don't know why minnows are doing things like this. I think the Steem infrastructure is good enough to reward those who put together decent content and take the time to interact with people on the platform. There shouldn't be a need to build further complexity into the system.
Anyways... Thanks for filling me in but count me out @tornadoman. :)
It’s ok I’m just glad you are here. Thanks for supporting me.
Welcome to steemit it seems you did good on your first post

Somebody has to become first new pioneer to be example to others :-)
What would the old pioneers tell about current world we live in?
That is a very good question @lanmis. One thing is sure... A pioneer is someone who sees the value in going places others aren't going and doing things others aren't doing. A pioneer is someone who seeks out the blue water leaving the red competitive water for everyone else to fight over. A pioneer is not afraid to innovate and create something new. I'm certain that the old pioneers would appreciate the new pioneer spirit because they are basically the same world views... just different timelines.
I'm curious, like you, as to what they would think of the times we live in however.
I'm wondering what questions I might ask those old pioneers?
Where would they think opportunity could be had?
What skills would they suggest I learn?
What would they think of as worth while activities?
Would they appreciate the ease of which our consumer society functions or would they encourage me to become more self-sufficient?
Would they understand computers and the technological aspects of our day?
Would they see these modern aspects of our society as potential frontiers or would they disappear into the backwoods and revert to a life centered around the old ways of life?
Here's the story of Dick Proenneke, an old pioneer from my grandfathers day. I came across his documentary recently and was inspired!
At one point of my life I was very interested in living outside the city, somewhere in the nature. It would be much easier for me to do that since my job doesn't require specific location, as long as I have internet access.
But...as much as I love eco friendly houses, I'm agaisnt building a house made of trees since it's a guaranteed way to destroy all the trees that managed to survive.
I'm more interested in houses made of clay etc.
That's more common and it has huge resources.
Although, I'm now exploring with Paulownia trees. If they are what they say it would be great thing for the whole world.
If it really grows in 8-10 years to full size, strong but light weight, straight growth...There would be a lot of potential in furniture world, houses, etc.
I'm now planning to partner up with someone with same interest, buy a small piece of land (which in my country is not expensive, less than $1k) plant like 100 Paulownia trees and see how it goes.
If it works it would also be a great income stream. Norway is paying about $450 per tree and more. Plus honey production in the meanwhile...
Back in the day I used to build log homes. We viewed it as a way to preserve the trees we used. The reason for this is that Canada has significant amounts of timber... So much so that one of our main problems here is forests following their natural cycle and burning to the ground. Every year we face this threat to our beautiful forests. Another threat is the wood beetle. It's wiping out vast areas of timber. These trees die standing and further increase the risk of wildfires. Whenever I drive through the Canadian Rockies (about once or twice a year) to Vancouver and Vancouver Island I am not only greeted by the amazing beauty... I, unfortunately, see the devastation of these fires. Entire mountain sides void of their forests. Smoldering charcoal and half burned stands of trees everywhere. It's really sad to see.
So yeah... our population isn't bent on destroying the forest like some places in the world are... We view cutting down selective trees as management of this precious natural resource. We do have some clear cutting here in Canada but these companies are required to replace the trees they cut down. Every summer people head to the mountains to plant trees. It's a pretty good living actually although you have got to be pretty tough to do a job like this.
I absolutely LOVE trees... I guess that's why the New Pioneer logo is a tree! I think trees are magnificent and when you look at how a tree grows there are so many things to learn about life and sustainability from them.
By the way... I think your idea of planting Paulownia trees is an interesting one! $1K is very cheap land! Is that the per. acre price? With land that's cheap many things are possible. And honey is always a good thing! Can never get enough of that! :D
Those regulations that Canada has are great. I really support that.
Unfortunately most of the countries don't have that (we had them until 30 years ago, but since than they are almost gone)
There's a lot of land standing unused where I live, because many people have left searching for a better life. That's why there is a lot of cheap land.
For example, in smaller towns, it's easy to buy a solid house for $5-10k with 5-10 ares of backyard (1 are is 100m2)
For the land, it's not that hard to find and buy ~10 ares for $1k (not talking about farming land, but about land for trees etc.)
Since Paulownia needs 2meters distance between each tree, it won't require a lot of land to plant 100 trees, or even a 1000
For 1000 trees, it's 20-25 ares (50x50 m2)
8 to 10 years is not a lot and with 1000 trees profit would be at least 250k just from furniture companies, but there are few other ways to earn since 2nd year:
-Honey production (bees love that trees)
-Pellet production from branches
-Leaf is sold to farmers to feed cows
-etc.
Profit will be returned in 2nd year and from 3rd it's 100% profit.
But I'm still planning this venture and trying to find someone to join me in this.
I think it's the sort of idea that your country may need @lanmis.
Have you heard about the tragedy of the commons? Basically this is an economic observation that indicates ownership is what prompts and incentivizes people to care for rather than exploit the land. They found that land, starting off beautiful and cared for, rapidly deteriorated when it was held as public land.
Over grazing and many other negative practices took place when someone didn't own a particular piece of land. Once this negative practice takes place it is infectious in it's effects to the surrounding property and it's value. It's really an ideology / mind set / attitude towards the land that creates this road block to true prosperity for the people.
So yeah! If you do this you could be a significant catalyst in your country for good! It's always amazing to me how if you take care of the land the land takes care of you.
I believe that all true wealth comes from 2 places. The earth you stand on and the ideas you plant and water in your mind.
"The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now." -Chinese Proverb
Unfortunately, thanks to communism and what came after it, people in this region (not just my country, but whole region) became stupid.
Everyone looks for himself and don't care about anyone else...including nature.
If you ask some random people, they'll all tell you they love nature, trees, taking care of Earth and so on, but in reality it's something totally different.
For example, May 1st this year, some young people went to a national park to celebrate and cut down whole tree for a small barbecue. And no one stopped them, even though there was hundreds of other people around.
Some people here love communism and wish to return it, but it actually had terrible effect on us.
By the way (I found out this few weeks ago) that we had Lions walking around trough Europe earlier before, but we (the people) decided they are in our way, don't benefit us and decided to kill all of them?
Today we don't have a single European lion, what we can see in a zoo are African lions.
Wow.....damn look new pioneer!!You look like rock in Jumanji movie😃😃
Hahaha! Thank you @kpreddy! 😂😁
Hey @newpioneer, I'm loving this post and your attitude. I think I'm a pioneer too . It's about breaking out of the confines of conformity, not attaching to the illusion and taking a bold step forward based on your intuitive feelings. Today's pioneers have different obstacles to overcome but the underlying driving force is still the same. I look forward to reading more of your journey.
Thank you for the encouraging words @jojomiracles. I think that you are a New Pioneer as well! Let's both continue Steeming forward together!

Doing good over here on a Sunday in Canada @steem.moon. Got up early to reply to all you all! Lots of fun! How about you?
Wao its great to have fun but there is nothing i still feel in depression and concious about my life another way you lucky
Posted using Partiko Android
Well you know why we get depressed. For me its because we try to act like others and that don't happen because their capabilities and talents are different than yours. See what you are good at. This gives you a great sense of inspiration an will help you in moving forward. I have a story to tell you what happens if we get influenced by others
There is a old man who is having a goat. There are also 3 thieves who want to steal this goat. so they planned on how to steal the goat.
Then 1st thief went to the man and told him that why his dog is looking so ill. Then old man said that it is a goat. But the thief once again said that it is a dog and went. Likewise the other 2 thieves told some other stories like if the old man was carrying the dog.
The old man doubted for a while and finally got convinced and left the goat and went back. Then the 3 thieves happily took away the goat.
Moral: Don't get convinced or persuaded by other people. Believe in yourself. Focus on your strengths,be happy and make others happy. And don't forget to follow @newpioneer
Yes yu right
Posted using Partiko Android
That was a very sincer response to @steem.moon @kreddy. I really like how you told her to focus on being and believing in herself. This is such good advice for dealing with depression and other peoples criticism. Your story about the old man, the three thieves, and the goat is priceless! Thank you for helping me lift people up here on Steemit! If that's all we end up accomplish here on this platform then we truly have been successful. :)
It can feel depressing when you look around and don't see the life you want... But the key in changing that reality is all about training your mind to look for the things you are grateful for. When you do that your more receptive to the things in life that will move you towards your goals.
I always think of it like this @steem.moon:
If I'm driving down the road and I'm looking at the rocks, trees, and power poles then I'm probably going to end up veering of the road and hitting those obstacles.
If, on the other hand, I'm driving down the road and I'm looking where I want to go... Chances are pretty good that I'm going to get there... in one piece!
Are those obstacles still there? Yes they are. But when your more focused on where your going your more likely to creatively find solutions around those obstacles... and your likely going to expend way less energy overcoming them.
We all have obstacles and limitations... It's all part of being a finite human being... It's something we all have in common. That's why we all got to try our best to encourage and support those around us. It's all about positive energy.
Here's another thing to think about...
I believe in making my own luck. How about you?
Hi @newpioneer
In my life there is very activities have around me there there is lot of fun good things i live in good life my independent everyone wants to live my life😀...
........
But😔 every one dont knows about about my tentions, pains my in my lifes booklet where is hardness i work with sincerity i give them all respects and want everyone should respect me feel my depressions but there is nothing.. After sping a most beautifull day at night when comes i feel depression i thinking about all my tention who gives me from anywhare i feel bad i feel in depreesed and crying everytime
I think about that why people like do with me bad behaviour tell me about my mistake
In life there is for females so tough to servive people want to killed 👭 girls
I beliving to make my luck i do it far i get up with more power and still stand and fight these things.... But when people tease me tease me tease me 💯 times when i feel low decresing my power of strongest....
On that moment what should i do @newpioneer
When i saw you @newpioneer you i feel you so lucky you are male you stand for yourself you are independent you can do it everything you want to do but i am not... Because i am a girl and spend life in socialism... When i 😢 crying many time and feel powerless

Hi @sunil6342458. Thank you for the compliment on my post as well as the resteem! That's very nice of you.
Quick question... What is it you need help with, if you don't mind me asking...
sir give me upvote, please i hope you give
Hi @sunil6342458. I really want to. You seem like a nice person... however, my friend, I feel that you are misguided at the moment as to how the Steemit community works.
One of the things I personally value the most in human beings is when they act out of sincerity, authenticity, and a genuine spirit. This, I believe, is where true influence and wealth come from.
A man or woman can have their hands full of the fruit... But it they do not understand how to nourish and care for the tree of life that produced the fruit in the first place then it is only a matter of time before their hands are empty and the tree has died.
If you support others here on Steemit (and in the world around you for that matter) out of a spirit of authentic, genuine, and sincere generosity with no intention of receiving anything... Then it is only natural for others to reciprocate. You won't have to sell your soul and ask. In fact it is the asking that cancels out the natural generosity that would come your way.
If you plant a seed will it not spring forth to feed you in due time? Have faith! It's a natural law of the universe!
Also... Please keep in mind... Steemit is a place that rewards value. By adding value to others you will in turn receive value. Simple as that.
I don't mean to lecture you... But I do mean to set the record clear going forward.
@newpioneer steemit need more people like you. You spoke true intentions.
I'm trying my best to maintain those intentions @kpreddy. The way I see it... Influence is a subtle art.
Having a business means that you are in the business of influencing people to put their hand in their pockets and give you their money. They have to see the value and the better you are able to communicate that value the more likely they will be happy to hand you their hard earned money.
In my opinion money doesn't spring from no where here on Steemit (or the physical world for that matter). It comes from the ability to influence people as to the value you offer.
That's why I think Steemit is such a great idea! It allows you to leverage your creativity, genuinely connect with others around the world, and add valuable information to people during the information age... a time where money, information, and influence are synonymous.
yeah! that is really true. our speech and actions should be persuasive in a good way.
Its good
