Greetings, fellow hivians
I am delighted to finally join Hive where I can share what knowledge I hold and enrich myself with the information on this platform. I have had my eye on this platform for quite a while, thanks to my partner @fermentedphil, therefore I am thrilled to finally start my own journey.
I am not an expert in anything, yet
This coming year I am going into my second year of BA Languages at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. I aspire to become a writer and an editor in either English or Afrikaans. Language is my passion and my hobby. I write poetry and short stories which I will share on this platform in the coming future. I am eager to improve and would like to engage with other writers and readers.
I am also doing my piano Grade 8 practical examination (the highest level) at Unisa. My musical qualifications include: piano Grade 7 practical at Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM), Grade 5 music theory at Unisa and Grade 5 music theory at Royal Schools of Music. I also taught myself some violin and ukulele. Music is infinitive as there will always be somewhere to improve or something to learn more about. Therefore, I will share the knowledge I have and I would like to inspire others starting their own musical journey. I am open for any critique or advice anyone has regarding my own skills when it comes to either the practical or theoretical side of music.
I am a curious being and know a bit about a lot
Jack of all trades. That is what I would call myself regarding interests and hobbies. I am a self-taught artist in acrylic paint. Am I any good? That is something you will have to decide. I am fascinated by the human behaviour which is the reason for my interest in crime and psychology. Reading is a “necessary condition” in my life. I prefer crime novels and classics, but I read mostly anything. I am a massive art enthusiast and I am very fond of nature. Traveling is also one of my other avocations. With these hobbies I will produce content in the form of creations, reviews and recommendations.

I will scout in my own way for information. Gathering information and sharing it. Searching for information and learning from it. This platform is my opportunity for it to become a reality.

Please be aware that Hive is a bit different from other social media platforms since you are monetizing your blog, so it is important not to include content that you don't own without sources (and it shouldn't exceed 50% of the post). Well met @urban.scout! I am Zak from Cape Town! I have been interacting with @fermentedphil a bit and I will warn you now, hehehe, I am the guy that is organising a MASSIVE activity group for South Africans and all their friends.
So, consider yourself well-supported during 2023! Basically, I ran a "Students of Hive" group for 2022. And we went from 313HP me personally to 1700HP+ for myself and 6000HP+ as a group that I helped get going.
In 2023 we will be putting all sorts of people together across South Africa and beyond! The above group is only 15 people and I am aiming at 100 active accounts in a massing awesome group!

Mystery: Bruce Alexander's Sir John Fielding series is a unique take on the mystery genre.
Fantasy: Stephen R. Lawhead, especially the Pendragon Cycle, which combines Celtic myth with the Arthurian legend.
Classics: Stories from the Old Squire's Farm and Life on the Mississippi. Mark Twain is probably known the world over, but C. A. Stephens is more obscure. Most material by both is probably available online due to age bringing it into the public domain.
Subversive: The Anarchist Handbook by Michael Malice, not because I agree with everything there, but because it's interesting. I wrote about it almost a year ago. Most of its material is also online somewhere or other.
