Outdoor Adventure Center: A Day Off

in #lassecash2 years ago

Outing Day

Today was a special father/son day.

My boy wants to go fishing (on a real boat), but before we make arrangements for that, my dad suggested the "Outdoors Adventure Center" by the DNR in Detroit Michigan. It gives visitors a taste of the great outdoors, right in the middle of the city of Detroit.

The three of us, myself, my dad and my son, all visited the exhibit, and we learned all about the outdoor experience. Of course, we prefer the real thing over an indoor museum, but it was a fun outing none-the-less.

Especially the indoor waterfalls!

The building used to be a factory manufacturing large boilers for steamships. Now it's a giant "outdoors" exhibit!

Looking at native fish in Michigan in a giant aquarium!

There are large salt mines under Detroit, we got to feel a huge chunk of rock salt!

Feeling beaver fur. Very soft!

Pretend flying an air plane! (It doesn't move)

We were found hanging out in a giant eagle's nest.

"Please touch the salt"

A sentence I never thought I'd read lol!

Me neither! Considering all the restrictions there, I was surprised to see an invitation like that.

Especially the indoor waterfalls!

That looks like a scene from a fantasy movie. Beautiful.

I say that it is a fantasy movie. Maybe you will meet the giant eagle in the next scene. Haha. 😂

!LOLZ.

Have a nice day. All the best. Greetings and much love from Hungary.

Thank you, it was a more fantasy than "natural". Simulating natural things does seem like a fantasy!

Wow! Two fathers and two sons. That's beautiful to see. I never experienced such as a son. But as a father, I missed the days when my sons were younger. Now, that they've grown up, they find my company not so pleasurable anymore. Unlike in their younger years particularly the second and the youngest, they didn't want to depart from me even though it was their time to sleep.

Now, that they've grown up, they find my company not so pleasurable anymore.

Aww, come on. I bet you're a cool dad! They don't know what they're missing! Besides, they should honor you like the good sons that they are.

Lassecash is still a thing. Impressive

Glad you got to spend quality time w the kiddo

Yup, Lassecash is still a thing for sure! NFT's and 20 tags - awesome opportunities on lassecash. I use it to post, other sites to curate.

That really looks like a lot of fun!

It really was a lot of fun.

This looks to be a great 'boys only day'. And so special that you can enjoy that with your dad and your son. This is creating memories!

Excellent memories. My daughters were a bit jealous, but they have their special outing too.

Nice post, Benjamin. Looks like it was a nice 3 generation outing. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, it was fun reviewing the day.

Cool thing to do in the city... !LOLZ

I told my doctor that I broke my arm in two places.
He told me to stop going to those places.

Sounds interesting, and looks like your son had lots of fun.

Thank you. It was a blast!

Very cool. Looks like you had a really great time. I didn't know this place existed. Lots of cool stuff in Detroit that gets lost among the run down areas.

Detroit is coming back... at least down town is. There are half-burned buildings and some very sad neighborhoods within a few hundred feet of the building, you'd never know it while inside. Somebody posted this bumper sticker on the door of the museum, I found it amusing:

That is pretty awesome. My wife and I were down there a couple of months ago for a concert at the Filmore. We need to try and get down there a bit more. I'm still a firm believer in the urban farm concept. Like goats and sheep to keep the vacant lots trimmed and stuff like that....

I will bet your son had a fantastic time. What a fun place. Thanks for sharing.

He really did.
