Sometimes ago while tidying up our country home, I saw those items in the pictures again. As inconsequential as they might look to many, I remembered how my Grandma cherished them and jealously protected them all the time.
Truth be told, there's lots we can not possibly take away from Our Old people...
Their minds and eyes for beauty and aesthetics for instance.
Numerous selfless commitments to discoveries and inventions.
Proffering solutions and resolutions for daring challenges that has not only impacted our existence positively but made a world a better place for Us all to living.
Ranging from spectacular works of arts, paintings. artifacts, architectural designs, monuments, mechanical and technical gadgets etc, that you and I can undeniably see and 'wows' in disbeliefs around us. How about various hidden treasures recovered or yet to be found?
My moral of this is, Our Old Citizens, alive or gone, must always be cherished and appreciated for their unprecedented sacrifices, the various heroic acts of valor within the home, at works or jobs, even at war fronts.
If there was no yesterday, today wouldn't have been possible and tomorrow will just be a wish.
And again, what do we say to those financial gains and wealths been generated from auctions, exhibitions and other related economic activities from their handiworks? which in turns produces not only self fulfilled and happy individuals, but great Investors who becomes successful employers, thereby putting foods on many home’s tables.
All thanks to these Old people's future oriented mindsets.
Hence, the more reason I think we should strife the more in love, compassion and respect to taking good care of them. Having toiled and soiled assiduously...we called it LEGACY.
While i acknowledges and applauds the efforts and every machinery put in place by Nations, Peoples and Organizations around the World for these distinguished Old Folks. However it's a continuous efforts and gestures as we practically produce New Graduands into this Class everyday.
The "Old Schools" as we call them this days. Ironically, same New generation already unconsciously sliding into the "Old School" compliances through, "throwback pictures" displays on most social media platforms, obsession or love for "vintage and classic" items in our daily appearances and so on.
Sometimes I wonder and ask myself. What if no one dies? No missing persons report? What would have become of this space we occupied?
To me, the unfathomable foresight of the Creator of this planet was enormous.
The Maker in my view, painstakingly envisaged the effective traffic control - as I called it. To checkmating the imminent upsurge in human population and probable anarchy and chaos as a result of the 'freedom' to procreate through several declarations and quotes from our various religious and cultural testaments, which allows and assures to freely multiplies and increases in numbers. Hence the inevitability of 'death'
However, despite this potent mechanism for control, through natural deaths, sicknesses, wars and crises etc. Nations and Rulers, even Fellow citizens still not only complains but dreads the rate at which we the Inhabitants of this planet drastically grows in population even at the instance of several controls.
Meanwhile, of all these ways to exit the earth, being 'aged' is the most suitable and convenient, hence most people not only pray but ensuring everything possible to stay old, and comb grey hairs.
As being alive to witness one’s Great Grandchildren in Wealth and perfect health is the ultimate wish for many.
Subsequently, our lucky to be alive Old Citizens throughout the World, despite their own share of human deficiencies, must continue being duly taken care of, all the time. Peradventure, yours and mine prayers and wishes for old age is divinely accented to, then we should avoid flooding our graves with future bad blood with posterity.
It's undisputable true that, it can actually be a herculean task to accommodate and indulge some of our Old folks sometimes… yeah, i sure do know, from experience.
Sadly, lots of these Legends, Veterans and Heroes, even people’s own Aged Parents are unarguably living in 'hell', more worse, from their immediate families and brethren, probably as result of thier dispositions, resentments due to unforgivable scenarios of the past and host of other human shortcomings. While the lucky Ones are the apples of their own People’s eyes.
Nevertheless, as an individual, especially, the 'still young and vibrant' we should learn more in understanding, forgiveness, and be more receptive with compassion to the ones under our roofs.
According to a stanza from my Country’s National Anthem and I quote “The labours of Our Heroes past shall never be in vain”
