Ashley Arson, ocean adventure and automata!

What’s up, Hive? Another night, another 12 hour turn around for a new photo that I just shot this morning. I’m actually sharing quite a bit more with my Hive followers than I am with my Patreon. I have so much new work and it’s just too tempting to keep to myself. I get back to the hotel and I’m ripping through these new images like a kid on Christmas morning. It was a full day. It started early with a shoot I never thought I’d pull off on this trip, then went across LA county with @customnature. Beach time, friend time, and great food. The world is as turbulent as ever but this was a strong beginning to 2022.

Ashley Arson is a prominent model here in Los Angeles and we’ve been wanting to shoot forever. She’s gained a big audience through Suicide Girls as Arson Suicide.

We’ve been following each other for ages and we’ve talked about shooting together. Distance being the biggest obstacle and missing each other every time I was in Los Angeles. Last night, I booked a fancy AirBnB in Topanga Canyon so I had a location for my shoot with Emily Boring. Ashley texted me about shooting. I said, “How spontaneous can you be?”. Bless her. She didn’t sleep the entire night and arrived at 9:00a.m. so we could make this shoot happen before check out. This is the first edit from today.

Once we checked out, I made my way back towards LAX to pick up @customnature. We went to eat at Umami Burger. Something that would give me a vegan option, and it was great. I gave him the tour of Hollywood, then we made our way to Santa Monica. He wanted to stand in the Pacific Ocean. I’ve been here dozens of times for work trips and rarely made that a priority so it was actually nice to feel the waves crashing against my feet. It was -8º when I left Minnesota so a mid-January beach walk is something I’m certainly grateful for.

A big part of this trip for @customnature was picking up his sculpture from Jordu Schell and finally meeting @thomaskuntzart. Getting the creature piece is happening tomorrow, but around 3:30p.m., I texted @thomaskuntzart and we made the drive through Topanga Canyon to Woodland Hills and met at Henri’s diner. The two of them got along great, like I knew they would. We went back to @thomaskuntzart’s shop and they both geeked out over tools and lathes for hours. Such a memorable day.

That is awesome. It sounds like you are having a really great time. Does it feel different this time visiting California? I mean, it feels more like you are doing it because you get to this time versus you have to. Based on what you have said anyway. I would imagine it is a "free" feeling.

It is different, I think mostly because my bother is out here with me. I’ve had a chance to show him some cool things and introduce him to some cool people. The shoot schedule has been intense, but overall, I think after all the lock downs, it’s just nice to be traveling and seeing friends.
