What’s up, Hive. It’s nearing 2:00a.m., and sometimes I’m really struggling to stay awake and make these posts. Tonight, I’m pretty alert, though. Because of that, I’m going to do @anomadsoul style freewrite and just get it all on the blockchain. Things have been in such a state of change lately. I’m sure @tarotbyfergus has done more than a few readings recently about this. If there was an overarching theme to my life right now, it’s attempting to find a new routine. @guthrie with school, @vermillionfox with work, my career; they’re all disrupted right now.
Starting with today and working back the last week or so, @guthrie and I spent some time together at Dogwood Coffee in NE Minneapolis. He’s decided over the last few years that he doesn’t like @caffetto. That’s side, but I can understand the change of heart. It’s dirty, punk, there are flies everywhere and uptown is awash in weirdos. I have to admit, even I’m hitting my threshold with randoms coming in and causing a scene. There was a squash bug moseying on our table and @guthrie actually held it! This is a big step as he’s always been terrified of insects.
My obsession with mushrooms continues. The foraging season is coming to an abrupt end as the temperatures outside are beginning to drop below what’s good for mushrooms in the woods, but I’ve been exploring many more varieties through The Wedge, our local co-op. Definitely expensive, but no more expensive than meat substitutes like Impossible or Beyond Burger. I’ve made dishes this last week with Maitake, lions mane, chestnut, and hedgehog mushrooms. Everyone has been delicious!
I did something for myself, recently. Well, technically, I did something for myself back in February but just paid for it now. I reserved a Steam Deck; a handheld gaming console by Valve. I’m not that great at games anymore now that I’m in my 40’s, but I’ve been trying to make time to play an hour or so a day, just as a break from all the work and stress of life. God of War has always been one of my favorite AAA titles and it’s so good on the Steam Deck. No regrets on this one! Thanks for reading and have a great night.

I need to start trying some different mushrooms. Maybe my wife and I will make that a goal in the new year. I still want to get out and start doing some morel hunting too. Like you said though, temps have definitely taken a turn. Winter is just around the corner!
