Don't underestimate Erdogan (pronounced Erdo- wun), he is a full scale dictator. If he says "Every patriotic Turk should sell his Gold or Dollars for Lira!", thats not meant as a suggestion. People who do the opposite - which makes sense in this situation - may easily find themself in prison for some of the rubber accusations like "supporting terrorism" or "anti turkish activities" and so on. Or at least they get fired from their job, because their boss is visited by some people in suits who drop the hint that it would be in his own best interest to do so.
This is not a joke anymore, even if it looks like that at times. This attitude to threaten everybody who speaks up against him (even countries like Germany or the US) is part of his "Strong Man Show" that secures him the support of the conservative islamic voters. And in the meantime he is cashing in, with his new 1000 room palace, and his relatives getting the top positions. Like making his son in law minister of finances. Do you think anyone will bail them out? I doubt it very much, at least not unless there are radical changes.
