Stop Focusing on Yesterday

“Yesterday” was a song by the Beatles released back in 1965.

It’s about a break-up of a relationship.

The lyrics wish for yesterday when he and his lover were together before she left because of something he did.

People all over the world are wishing for a “yesterday” today.

The problem is, yesterday is gone—it’s not coming back.

Today, focus on the future.

The ONLY way to create a better future is to stop focusing on what you did yesterday and start creating your tomorrow.

Who you were, what you wore, what you drove, how much money you made, how good the relationship was, how many faithful customers you had, or what kind of shape you were in yesterday means nothing compared to today.

Your victories last week won't carry you through next week.

—The exercise you did last month will not carry you into next month.
—The sex you had last week won’t satisfy your spouse this week.
—The sale you closed two days ago won’t help you ring the bell today.

It's unfortunate that so many people spend time regretting yesterday, stewing over it, and planning their life around it when it's already over, gone, and finished!

"Yesterdays" only ruin your ability to create a tomorrow.

Your Business:

Let's say you want to build your customer base and haven't been doing that for some years. The only thing that matters now is that you see how you want your future to look and then take the actions necessary TODAY in building your customer base from here on out. No reason to spend time on yesterday’s failures.

Your Relationship:

For a relationship to prosper you have to keep your attention on the future of it. Things like dates, dinners, plans, vacations, new adventures, mutual goals, and projects are what will ensure your future together. The marriage will not keep surviving on the love of yesterday, but only on what is created now and in the future.

Your Body:

If you’re chugging coke and slamming hamburgers every night or drinking too much alcohol and not working out, you’re not going to be energetic. Your body will get soft because your waist size is the result of what you do with your body and what you put in your body. The salad and chicken breast you ate yesterday will not cancel out the donut you ate this morning.

Your future is a summation of your actions today, not what you did or didn't do yesterday!

What are you going to do TODAY?
