Nobody (2021) ...can dislike this movie

IMDb tags Nobody as crime, action, thriller but I think it's more of a black-comedy, action film. Oh, did I mention it's awesome?

The film stars Bob Odenkirk, best known for the character of Saul Goodman in the TV hit Breaking Bad and its spin-off Better Call Saul. Hutch is the name Odenkirk's character answers to, but we never get to see if that's his real name. When the bad guys (Russian mobsters) try to check his bakground, all they come up with is a totally redacted file, with only the word 'Nobody' left not blacked out. And while the true nature of Hutch is revealed during the course of the film, I am not one for writing reviews containing spoilers. Let's just say he possesses a very particular set of skills. Yes, think something like Liam Neeson in Taken, with a grain of Keanu Reeves in John Wick. And, boy, does Odenkirk deliver...

Supporting Odenkirk, is Michael Ironside, playing Hutch's father. Ironside, now 70 and a cancer survivor, is known mainly for his work in '80s and '90s action films. Total Recall (1990) and Starship Troopers (1997) is what first comes to mind when I hear his name. Despite his troubled health history and relatively advanced age, Ironside not only pulls off a solid performance, but also seems to enjoy it a lot.

And now for the crème de la crème of this film, the soundtrack. With a mix of tunes, stretching all the way back to the '60s, the songs come on and off suddenly throughout the movie, but they always fit the action both musically and lyrically.

The pace is good, the story is good, the runtime is spot on leaving just enough for character development. Overall, this is a thumbs-up

P.S. I won't be surprised if this film ends up generating a lot of new memes. There are so many wild quotes, but as I said no spoilers.
