No work in the studio? let's record nature in the Guatemalan mountains!

Hey guys!

Like any recording studio we rely heavily on clients booking studio time and actually coming to the studio to track or produce their projects. Although we're still able to work on editing or mixing, we've taken a pretty significant hit.

Our friends at Greenrush, nature sanctuary, rely ENTIRELY on people coming to visit the park and as you might imagine, they're remaining closed until further notice.

Although there is still no permanent solution, we've decided to team up and create virtual tours of the hiking trails (on foot and on horseback), the bee sanctuary (where happy honey is made), and help produce all sorts of educational content to share with folks over the web.

Our first visit to the grounds was really fun! We set up everything before hand so that when the minimal crew got there, we were let in without much hassle and had the whole park to ourselves! all 50 acres of human-free forest :)

A little bit of history:

the Greenrush grounds were purchased from a coffee & avocado plantation about 22 kilometers from Guatemala City, where it was strictly prohibited to plant anything that wasn't coffee or avocado. If anything else started growing, the employees had a strict mission: kill it. This was devastating to the soil and the surrounding plants and animals.

After the grounds were acquired, the mission was the complete opposite: let nature take its course as much as possible.

10 years have passed, and the result of leaving the forest untouched is remarkable!

So here's a little clip of one of the trails we did. It was incredibly satisfying to finally be outside for a few hours surrounded by nothing but nature. And if there is one takeaway I had from this experience is: we must change the way we see our relationship with nature. We ARE nature, we're not apart from it.

I hope everybody is finding creative ways to keep doing what you do for a living. stay amazing!
