The Old Village Hall - Full Explore

A few weeks/months ago, I posted a few pictures from the explore of the old village hall in Greasbrough, just outside Rotherham in South Yorkshire.
A very easy explore on this one, as there was no climbing or scrawming on the floor, it was straight in the open fire exit for a good look around.

I hold fond memories of this building, as it was a place I frequented from a very early age, as I attended playschool, from about 3 years old.
I always remember looking at the beams on the ceiling, and the odd glass in the windows, but the council decided to destroy the building approx 7 years before it's centenary.

They have now started work on the road where this lovely building once stood, even though they are doing it for the "flow of traffic", the actualy hold up is further up the road that causes all the tail backs and not where this building once was.

This fancy bit was saved from the demolition, and now is on display a little further down the road in memory of the building.

I seem to have a memory of a Air raid siren on the roof of the building, that had been there from World War 2, it must have been removed mid-late 80s or even in the 90's.

The main entrance in to the hall, I'm not really sure what posessed the person who chose the colour scheme. The floor looked like there was some sort of liquid spilled on it, but it was dry, so not sure what had caused this.

Poking the camera lens into a broken window, you can see what a dumping ground it was for the local council, nothing of any value (unless that had been stolen by thieves), just old tables and filing cabinets and other rubbish.

I wonder what the last ever show on the stage was. Towards the back of the stage was a massive hole, one that thieves had done by ripping it up to get the the pipes underneath (even though there was a cellar), there was water leaking under the stage into the cellar due to the pipes being ripped out.

I love these old doors, apart from that horrible green colour.

This window had been odd from at least the late 1970s, as I was born in 75, and I always used to look at this window and think "why is that different, why couldn't they have made it the same?", I think I must have had OCD when I was a kid lol.

In the office with the old boarded up fireplace, the cups in the cupboards was a make that you generally hear mentioned ont he antiques road show, but I forgot what they were lol.

untitled_shoot_1056_edit.jpg

While I was looking around the building before it got demolished, I heard strange noises, then all of a sudden, a bloke walks around the corner, and strangely enought, it was someone I knew lol. So not only a good explore, but a good chin-wag too.

I wonder if these cupboards were antiques? and I wonder if they had been in the building since it was erected.

Idiots and stones...

untitled_shoot_1159_dxo.jpg

The bogs had been ransacked by vandals.

A room I never knew about, not much inside, apart from what you see on the photo.

Anyone want a cuppa?

Well that was about it for the explore, I did take more shots, but there's only so many that you can take of the same thing.

As mentioned earlier in the post, the council have now started the road works where this once stood. Another lovely building, lost to just memories of a people, once those people pass away, the memory of the building will be lost.
I wish I could have got some shots of the building in it's hayday, but sadly, the ones I did get are the ones in it's demise due to council neglect and idiots.

Thank you ever so much for reading this kind of long post, I've not posted in a while due to being back at work and working weird hours, so can only post when I can now days.

That seems well hidden from the local youths, not one scrawled cock shot anywhere!
Weird what gets left behind, all those mugs neatly stacked on the shelf.

Doesn't look that bad compared with some places I've seen posted here. It reminds me a lot of my junior school that may have been a similar vintage. Did everything look small now?

Nice bit of nostalgia.

!PIZZA

The main part did seem smaller than I’d remembered, but I thought it was because of all the stuff dumped inside it.

Wow! I'm shocked as to how in tact it still is. Most places fall apart worse that that even without the help of vandals.. just sitting unmaintained.

Great photos! Looks like a good trip. What are the chances of running into someone you know during an Urbex!? Crazy!

Not too badly wrecked, the grass outside looks like its been recently mown. Someone was partially looking after it at the time.
