Splinterlands Challenge of the Week: Spirit Hoarder

in #oneuplast year

This week's Splinterlands Challenge of the Week was to showcase the Neutral Spirit Hoarder.

This is an extremely useful low mana card, which starts with three health, 1 magic and the triage ability, for healing back row monsters. its only weakness is that it is slow, but for magic that is not so much of a problem!

The battle below features a Level 1 Spirit Hoarder played with Alric winning in a victory against an opponent with the same summoner!

The Rule Set and Line Up

  • Mana cap
  • Standard Rules apply (Bronze League!)

Summoner - Alric

  1. Lord A - my ever reliable low to mid mana cap tank
  2. Albatross - snipe and opportunity soak
  3. Mershali Guardian - for heal
  4. Spirit Hoarder - damage card one and triage
  5. Mermaid Healer - triage 2 (in retrospect, probably would have been better in P4)
  6. Coral Wraith - damage card 2 sneak!

Did my strategy work?

Beautifully, to see it in action click here!

  • Round 1 - My Wraith takes out my opponent's Ice Pixie, and takes one sneak damage but is healed by triage (important!)
  • Round 2 - The Wraith takes out the Pelacor, is damaged and healed again, but no more sneak attacks on me now!
  • Round 3 - The Wraith strikes again, this time on the Venari, nice!
  • Round 4 - And again, the stonefish goes down...
  • Rounds 5 to 6 - we all just pile into Osheanus, an easy win!

How important was The Spirit Hoarder?

In this battle he was more useful chipping away at my opponent's tank, and it's work noting that for the same mana you get damage and triage, in comparison with only Triage from the Mermaid Healer.

It was actually her rather than the hoarder doing the triaging in this battle, but no matter, I could have just swapped her out for something else and the Hoarder would have done the same.

Ultimately it was the Coral Wraith and the plus one magic from Alric that were the most useful in this battle!

Oddly I played three battles with the Spirit Hoarder, none of which really showed him off, but he was useful in all three without being the star, so he is reliable that is for sure!

Final Thoughts: Spirit Hoarder - worth buying?

100% yes this is a priority card, I mean it's neutral and at L1 kicking of with triage can be a real battle winner!

And at max he's awesome: three useful abilities for three mana and two magic damage - no wonder he is one of the pricier cards!

If you don't yet play Splinterlands, why not give it a go?

Sort:

It's very susceptible to being one-shotted with an Opportunity card, your side needs some group armour to prevent that. Fits well with Kelya.

Keyla would work well you're right, I just wanted to risk it with the plus one magic summoner!
