If they lock us up

in #palnet3 years ago

I know today is probably not the best day to read the news. Yes, I'm aware it's april fools, and I'm doing my best to filter out the bullcrap out there. But, I promise I'm being serious.

There's talk

Since the cases seem to be going up, there are rumors that new restrictions will have to be applied worldwide, and it worries me. It worries me for many reasons, but above all because our politicians have no idea how things are on the streets.

There's an obvious disconnect between the way our representatives see life, the hustle, and the way we actually live it. It seems obvious to me, apparently not to those who are put in charge of running things.

People need to work

It's not only the fact that most of us don't have crazy savings to live until herd immunity reaches 100% (which technically is never). But the mental toll is something most people are not even talking about.

Do yourself a favor, look up the numbers. Look at the spike in suicide rates, in domestic abuse, in divorce, etc. The numbers are clear my friends. People need to feel useful. People need to feel purpose, and even if they have some money saved up to "survive" that's not the whole picture here.

They just can't do it

I sincerely believe that if any government tries to put us all back in the cage, the world is going to burn. Where I'm currently living, the government is contemplating declaring a national emergency, which would allow them to arrest people who are out on the streets, close down businesses who dare to open up, and god knows what other fascist things.

Are our politicians that blind? Don't they see that if they try this again, they would probably get lynched? I'm not even being hyperbolic. The poverty has risen to insane levels, and that's not to take into account the effects that are yet to come.

Moving the goal post

First, flatten the curve, then wait for the vaccine, now the talk is wait for herd immunity to reach 100, the vaccine is not enough.

What the hell is going on? Listen. I'm not making light of the virus. My father got sick, and he made it. I know it's real. I'm saying they can't lock us all up and "save us". It's stupid. It won't work.

You can only solve this dilemma with a conspiracy theorist mindset.

The people that like to gain control over others (politi-roaches) are narcissists and sociopaths.
The people that put all their effort into moving into positions of power are narcissists and sociopaths.

So, on the Wuhan-flu lockdown, do they care that you are hurting? That you need to work? That you are so lonely that you would kill yourself? NO.

They want you cowering in fear. They want you jumping through hoops. They want you begging for mercy, because that means they have control over you.

In the end, it has nothing to do with the Wuhan-flu.
Except for some nasty sociopaths that sent sick people to old people's homes, this has been quite a normal flu season.

These people do not care one iota for your reasons or reasoning.
Why do you think the board of people working on the Wuhan-flu is mostly psychologists?
It's all a mind game.

i would love to disagree with you, but im not sure you are wrong... it sure seems like this is how it is

A "normal flu season" would not result in over a half a million people dying from it in the U.S.
The incidence of the normal flu cases being seen by doctors and hospitals is way down from a normal year. That is mostly due to limiting the spread of the flu by the use of masks. This is simple science...
It's actually pretty easy to stop the spread of covid and regular flu viruses, but people won't do it. Lockdowns happened because people refuse to do the simple things to slow the spread. Grocery stores have proven that it is entirely possible for businesses to slow the spread without closing.

Only a quarter million people have died from the Wuhan-flu. (In The US; not 500,000)
And we know these numbers are inflated AND padded.
The deaths from flu are not that low, and they are deflated and minimized. (any morbidity and its blamed on that)

Two things happened this last flu season. People didn't go to the hospital for anything like the flu (not measured) and if you had the flu, you very often showed up positive for the Wuhan-flu.

If the lockdowns worked so well, why did the Wuhan-flu keep spreading?

only...

The lockdowns didn't work because so many people ignored them...

Around December of last year, I was feeling extreme suicidal ideation. Not the fake 'cut my wrist' type, but the 'how do I end this, and not fail' kind. We live in Los Angeles, and I was an early mask wearer because I wanted to do my part. I then started locking myself in the house, alone with my wife. Eventually, we started ordering all of our groceries through delivery. I was in a 1 bedroom apt at the time. (We have always worked from home, so lucky in that respect)

My wife ended up pregnant, because.. you know, isolation.

So now we have a 9 month old baby, and I still can hardly leave the house. I still am not eligible for vaccination (but apparently will be on the 15th)

I am feeling better psychologically, but it has taken a major toll on my sanity. I am furious at the people who just didn't give a shit and couldn't spend a couple of weeks locked down, so that we'd have to deal with this shit for over a year. I watch them walking by my window outside living life as it nothing ever happened, while those of us with a conscience suffer. It's not that I blame them for wanting to be free, but all I can see is this insane sacrifice that my family and many others are making while they make it all for naught.

It's a catch 22. If everyone doesn't wear a mask, then it won't work - yet if I don't wear a mask them I'm part of the problem.

All that said, I will get the vaccine, my wife will get the vaccine; and I will go out into society again. This is no way to live. I'll do it with a clear conscience knowing that I did all I could to stop the spread of Covid.

In situations like this one, you just have to protect yourself from the disease, because there's a lot of people out there who don't give a shit about if someone else gets sick from their actions, they're going to do what they want to, and to hell with everyone else...

It's messed up.. By now I totally understand why people are fed up. The people who piss me off the most are the ones who didn't give a shit in the beginning, and still don't now. They never changed a single thing about their behavior, even for a minute. And now the entire planet is suffering for it.

what a crazy year for you bud... well, i think the baby is a blessing nonetheless. that being said, i get you 100%

The government down here is fumbling the ball bigtime on the vaccines. I might end up going back to the US for my shots. I truly can't wait for this nightmare to be over.

I concur! Upvoted, spread the word!!

They say hindsight is 2020, wow what a overstatement that has turned out to be, with the date being a twisted irony to it all. The reality now that the virus was harmless to the majority of individuals and that developing innate immunity would have been a better route to have gone down while protecting the most vulnerable among us somehow manages to keep escaping their lip service. Billions of dollars later and the opening of Pandora's box has them all shaking in their boots. They took something most people can survive and turned it into a cluster mess of vaccine derived variants. So far these variants haven't proven to be more deadly just more transmissible. I think here in the states it's the reason a lot of the states have started opening up, they realize that innate immunity not only last longer but offers up less of a chance of variants springing forth from it. These vaccines hit on the spike proteins which doesn't necessarily or will not necessarily develop t cell immunity within the cells, studies are in the preliminary stages but so far suggest, like I've said, the natural route to immunity would have been the better route, would have developed a stronger t cell defense against any future natural mutations and eliminated the chances those mutations came as a result of vaccines. So now they've backed themselves into a corner and just don't want to admit their mistake. Most of the vulnerable have been vaccinated and they should try reopening to gain as much natural immunity among themselves as possible. In the meantime moving forward those who get vaccinated, and I know many are going to hate that I say this, should vigorously keep to staying masked and distanced as much as possible until their bodies fully develop antibodies from the vaccine, a virus job is to build a better machine and if he enters a workshop in progress against his objective he will surely try and defeat it....in other words if you are facing an advancing army it's better not to let them see the weapon you are building inside.

I think that if people would have been willing to do the simple things to protect the vulnerable early on in this pandemic, we would probably be a lot closer to "herd immunity" than we are now. However, it seems that a lot of people simply can't be bothered to think about anyone beside themself, so we got those huge spikes of transmission and spread, and now about a half a million people have died from covid complications...
I get my second dose of Moderna next Tuesday at the local V.A. hospital...
