LA journal!

What’s up, Hive? I’ve arrived in San Diego. Well, to be specific, Ramona, which is about 30 minutes outside of San Diego. I’ve been really frustrated throughout the last week. I’ve had so many friends that’ve flaked on me after months of planning to get together. It’s part of the culture out here but as someone that grew up on the east coast, I’ll never get used it to, and I’ll never not be pissed about it. One guy that did make it to hang out was @felblob, and after two years of working together going way back to @facingsofficial, it was great to finally meet in the flesh. Funny, it really did seem like we’ve already met.

Tomorrow I’ll be working with @felblob all day and night on @mirrorpool and @neverwel stuff, but before I got on the road, I did have a shoot this morning with my friend Kitty. I haven’t seen her since 2018 where we briefly shared a bowl of pho before I got on a bus in New York City. She’s in LA now and has been for about a year and this was our big reunion. We shot today at the Gables estate and nothing could make me happier than overcoming a pandemic than a saliva selfie! Man I missed this girl. It felt so good to see her face again. I can’t wait to edit some our these new photos. She’s an awesome model.

I also saw reunited with my friend Mars. We shot together back in 2016, I believe. She flew down from Northern California for a week of shoots in Los Angeles before I made my way on to Vegas for the Viva Rockabilly Weekend. She was shy and this was one of her first shoots. I remember we shot in a very challenging hotel with almost no lighting at all. We got some memorable shots, but this time, Mars had a newfound confidence and we seized the opportunity after two years of COVID restrictions and lock downs. We were also shooting at the mansion in LA.

Lastly, I have some behind the scenes from a shoot with Bettie Pagan. Sadly, the one shoot that I’d scheduled this entire trip around cancelled […see my above comments about how flaky LA is], but after buying flowers, pulling wardrobe from La Femme En Noir and making preparations, my Instagram friend Bettie stepped up met me on only a few hours notice. I just guessed by approximation that she likely had the same body type as the other model, and I was right! She fit like a glove and I still managed to salvage this, of course, with a Philly girl.
