Whirlwind!

Hey, Hive! I keep seeing Twitter lit up with the news of HF 26. I’ve been on the road for just over a week now and I have to catch up. I missed some of these details. Exciting to see Hive still moving forward with the march of decentralized governance and community. I, myself, have been in the throes of this trip. A whirlwind with moments of elation, moments of frustration and the bitter-sweet consequences and rewards of this unusual career I chose to pursue. It’s been a crucible of finding out who my friends really are and who will make time for me when I’m willing to make time for them.

One of those friends is @felblob. I’ve been working with this guy for over two years. I actually hired him at @facingsofficial. I remember our first interview together, thinking that, “Yeah, this guy gets it.”. In fact, throughout my time at @facingsofficial, he and I lead the teams that released the actual sets like NFTrippy, Finney, Strange & Unusual and of course, Dark Pinup. After all this time and a pandemic later, this was the trip we were finally able to meet. We spent all day in San Diego working on @mirrorpool and @neverwel and it was such a good time.

I’m returning to Los Angeles tomorrow for three more shoots. After breakfast with @felblob, I’ll be making the trip to Loma Linda to photograph by friend Jenni. From there, I’ll be attempting to visit a friend in Anaheim, although, at this point, I’m not holding my break. I bought a new Osmo gimbal and will be picking that up at my friend Cindy’s house where it’ll be delivered in the afternoon, and from there, shooting footage to create more LiDAR assets for the upcoming Act Three NFT release on WAX, along with all the new photos from this trip.

I wanted to leave you with a few more behind the scenes photos from the various shoots throughout this west coast dark pinup tour. I’m really happy with the work. I’ve been wrestling with how unsustainable this path is in my life, especially now in my early 40’s. I can’t believe I’ve done it while raising a son and owning a home for as long as I have. Because of social network trends changing, I feel left behind, but I’ll adapt. I always do. The work I’m doing with @mirrorpool, @felblob and @swarddraws is far more rewarding as a lifelong illustrator.
