The beginning of the end

in #politics3 years ago

I usually have absolutely no interest at all in commenting on political or world affairs, either at home here in the UK or across the world.

Big news and events come and go every day. It looks exhausting to keep up with and I have nothing of value to add to the discourse.

However, this image from today of Trump supporters storming the Capitol is genuinely terrifying.
I can’t entirely articulate why but there’s something so distressing about it.

(N.B I did not take this photo - I’m sharing it from an unknown source on Twitter)

I guess it’s that this photo is like a desperate scene from dystopian movie.
A symbol of the most powerful country in the world losing control.
A clamouring and aggressive crowd of overly privileged humans descending on the building which represent the pillars of power, to threaten and cause harm.

The photo also has an angle and feel that resembles images of subjects hanging on to dear life on the side of boat at sea.
Or a crowd escaping a lethal situation.
But this isn’t that.
It’s a mob of thousands attacking a building, in the name of a leader.

I’m all for sticking it to the establishment (a bit.. and peacefully) but this rings of tones far far too extreme for my liking.
It’s being normalised.

I can’t imagine this happening at the Houses of Parliament in London. Or being allowed to happen.

This to me is a symbol of the start of a sore conflict that will sadly begin divide and tear the US apart, in one way or another.

Some of the clips I’ve seen of smashing windows and destroying cameras of the media and journalists is a step too far.

I despair.

Sad times.
Fuck fascist Trump.

Sort:

I'm in America and it's terrifying watching this happen. Fuck trump and these people. Every single one of these people should be arrested and tried as domestic terrorists!

Must be so frustrating. I can feel your anger.
Take care out there dude!

.... including Trump - some did suggest the 25th amendment. Be that as it may, once out of office, there are prosecutors looking for him already. NY State attorney Letitia James is just waiting for that.

While I do not support Trump - I see that despite his fascism, there are policies that go with him that support individual sovereignty when the baby is dumped with the bathwater, in that modern american politics has minimal judgement of policy and places too much value on the candidates, their personality and their personal history - and this makes no sense because it is not their personal preferences that decide policy in the end - it is industry and lobbying (and maybe just a little public opinion and backlash, shit hey?).

The alternative provided to the people is Biden. Which is no alternative because he represents big pharma and a whole kettle of fish of crackpot policies a lot of people left and right do not want either.

The only alternative for the people to have a voice in a corrupt state is violence.

People that feel injustice whether from one side or the other and have their voice robbed from them due to censorship protocols and an ever increasing police state.

I do not support these people but I do not wonder why it is happening. It is a no brainer that it is happening.

And if it was this easy to set up this level of polarisation within the people - I go so far as to believe it was planned this way.

Unfortunately the situation of these manufactured conflicts give the state sanction to encroach yet more policies on personal freedoms.

Personal freedoms being a jar of privileges quickly running low in our times.

With over 200 zombie corporations being held up by government subsidies in America, the control of the stock market is put in direct control of the government.

It can be collapsed tomorrow. People should be angry, not against each other but against the way we've all been had - all over the world.

Justice, democracy and free-will are being exposed for the illusions they were in the free-world.

If we want to retain a semblance of this freedom we must take self-responsibility and act now.

That is a detailed, succinct and fair comment.

Still, the image fills me with dread and despair.

Sure, I can relate to that

The now leaving administration of the USA was more right centered then the current in Britan? Hard to believe looking at it from Germany.

The UK is fucked too. We’ve been had.

Still, this is a distressing image of what’s happening and beginning to unravel. Terrifying times where I’m not sure anywhere is safe anymore.

It's a Battle Cry, stay in the light, or get eaten... The Age of Disinformation has to come to an end at some point.
