RE: Poll: Testing the waters: HiveFest 2022 but IRL again, would you come? (Serious answers only please)

in #poll2 years ago (edited)

Hi roeland and thanks for this initiative. On my side, I have started to resume work trips too, and this since a couple of months (small scale meeting, mid-scale workshops and soon a large scale conference). Seeing people in person is really really great and makes a lot of difference. Although life is a bit different (especially for what concerns transport), it is really amazing to be able to behave almost like in the ancient world.

Coming to Hivefest, work has never allowed me to go (calendar clashes). This year, however, I will block the dates as soon as they will be known and try to be with you! Things are a bit different so that a 95% yes may be in order :)

Cheers!

PS: if Paris is an option, feel free to reach me out ;)

Hey @lemouth

I voted maybe, but if it happens and I can make it would be great to meet up at some point and have the reality of black hole theory explained to me beyond my wild creative imaginings in the LMAC competition.

I still, notice, and am proud whenever I', tagged and see my image used in the STEM curation post :-)

I agree. It would be great to meet at some point somewhere. Where are you based? You probably told me but I forgot... ;)

PS: we will use your image week after week ^^

I'm in the UK so places in Europe are easy for me, and relatively cheap usually... as long as I'm prepared to take the leap of faith that is... Ryanair.

I've been on some Ryanair flights that I'm sure defied the laws of physics... how they stayed up in the air with all the rattling and strange bumping noises 😆

Ahaha now I remember. UK indeed ^^

Yeah, Ryanair has pushed the limits further... in the worst way. They are however cheap, and for flights of a few hours, it is probably fine. Note that I said "flight" and not "journey" as the ratio "time of flight/time of journey" can be very small with Ryanair :)

I will let you know if I pass by the UK. This may happen at some point this year. If you are in Paris, don't hesitate to ping me!
