I do not like this, even though I don't use Poloniex. Yeeting Steem is a negative for our community at best, and a sign of things to come more likely.

I reckon the best possible way to approach this is as an opportunity for those that keep a balance on exchanges to move them to hard wallets. At least better financial security will come of it then.
