Song Of The Day: [New Music!] A Hazy, Desert Groove - "The Sun Is High" by Feon

in #recordpool7 years ago

I go to Joshua Tree with my good friends every so often and we have the best fuckin time decompressing in the desert heat. Drinking, smoking, hookahing, and listening to spiritual ass tunes. Lot of Tuvan throat singing, monk chanting, hindu chanting, I love it. I don't listen to nearly enough of it in my day-to-day so I'm always looking for that kind of stuff. If you know of any please share some in the comments :)

This song by Feon immediately struck me as a track that I'd play for the homies. A steady bongo beat with uplifting chants and some quirky bloops and slick house effects near the tail-end. Released on May 25th under the label Optimo Music (they're based in Glasgow, Scotland). A perfect track for trekking in any kind of wilderness when the sun is out. Desert, prairie, mountains. Enjoy!

Off the top of my head a few great tunes that fall into this type of vibe:

Pachanga Boys - Time

Shinichi Atobe - Butterfly Effect

Deep Contest - Sunday Morning

These tracks are awesome man thank you! I was looking for something more with chanting but these are right up my alley anyway. Love all things deep and wavy. Sunday Morning is fuckin excellent.

Ah. If you want something with the chanting in it check out the KLF's Chillout album, if you havent already heard it that is?

Here's the full album. It doesn't have the chanting in all the tracks but its almost perfect ambient music IMO.

Aaaaaaah apparently I can't upvote this because it's within the last 12 hours of being able to cash out. But this is great man! sorry for the late reply I've been pretty absent from the blockchain. This is actually my first time hearing KLF but I'm really loving it. Just have the album on while I'm doing stuff around the house.

I'm guessing you've heard of The Orb too right? He dropped a new album last week titled No Sounds Are Out Of Bounds. I bet you've heard of The Orb but definitely check that out too.

Thanks man. Yeah I'm a massive Orb fan. Didn't know they had a new album though. I'll check that out.

Jimmy Cauty from the KLF was actually in the Orb with Alex Patterson back when they first started. He (Cauty) made an album called Space which was material recorded for the first Orb album but they split and went their separate ways and Patterson went on to finish the Orbs first album with Kris Western and the material he kept and Jimmy Cauty put is stuff out as Space. Check out the Space album here. https://www.discogs.com/Space-Space/master/63579
