Weekly Running Update - what a difference the wind makes!

I stepped (or rather ran) away from the treadmill this week to do three five K runs: two on my usual route in Ramsgate and one between Whitsable and Canterbury - I fancied somewhere different so I took a drive to a local country park and just did an out and back.

I just wasn't feeling a long run this weekend so I just settled for a third FIVE K to keep things ticking over!

Tuesday's 5K - 26.24 mins WIND

In my head I called this a 'comedy run' - into a really strong wind on the way out which really took it out of me - I treble layered for this - based layer, WARM top and then jacket - I needed them, not only was it winding, it was raining too.

This was tough and 1.30 mins slower than the same route on Friday when there was no wind, but it was still nice to be outside in the elements!

Friday's 5K - 24.50 - NO WIND

What a difference three days makes! Much better weather and a much easier run! This is more like it - the difference in pace is outstanding.

I'm sure it takes more effort running into the wind than you gain when running with it, hence I much prefer NO WIND, thank you!

(Well obviously there is obviously no wind exactly, but a gentler wind that is hardly noticeable I should say!

Sunday's 5K

I took a drive to Blean woods, around 20 mins from where I live for a different route, I'd reckied it with a walk a couple of weeks ago, just an easy out and back.

I jogged out 2.5Ks, turned around and then came back again.

It was hillier slightly than my usual route, which I like as it added in a bit of a challenge and made it slightly slower than usual, but that's O.K. I'd rather have the variety.

Final thoughts and next week's plans

I wasn't really feeing it this week, I think I'm getting a bit sick of being in Ramsgate knowing that I'm moving back to Hereford next month and am just done with the usual route.

I think it's fair enough once in a while to have a holding week, but I think next week I should push a bit further, so maybe back to a 5K, intervals and I will go a bit further on the same route i ran this week - there's more stuff to see just up the road, I know!

Sort:

At least you got out. I guess on the coast wind may be more of an issue. We did get some high winds last week here though. I am envious of your pace, but we each do what we can.

Yeah some weeks are just like this! But we move!
