Weeklyish Running Update Early-Mid March 2023

The weather was grotty this week, windy, cold and rainy, so I opted for only TWO interval treadmill sessions (followed by a sauna each time!) and I lunched out my long run, opting instead for a long walk on Saturday, in the form of a nice mooch around London with a friend, and a few pints!

Tuesday's Interval Session...

I did 10 mins warm up on the cross trainer, then 1KM at 11.5 KPH and then 5 intervals, two of which were really warm ups. All intervals were 400 M at...

  1. 12-12.5 KPH
  2. 13-13.5 KPH
  3. 14 KPH
  4. 14 KPH
  5. 14 KPH.

This was actually slower than the previous week but I really wasn't feeling it today, must be the weather, still I got it done which is sometimes a win!

Friday's Intervals...

This was an exact repeat of the above...

Except for the fact that I extended the penultimate interval by 50 metres and reduced the last by the same, not really sure why, I just wanted an easier last interval I guess!

This particular session ws mired by an absolute twat doing super fast intervals a couple of machines down and doing whooping noises and looking around for recognition, what a knob jockey.

I thought about waiting until he'd finished but cracked on anyway, thankfully he was done around a third of the way through my sessions.

Besides the twat this session was OK, I could have pushed a bit harder but i was really in a 'just get something done and hold the line mood'

16/5 K 18000 step walk on Saturday

One advantage of my new Garmin over the old is that it offers an excellent step count facility (when you remember to wear it!)...

I'd already planned last week to take off Sunday from running, as I knew I had a beer-date and so happily got in a decent walk around London with a few beers, it was fun and some nice exercise to boot.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the occasional week off the long run, and a walk is a great substitute.

Next weeks plans...

Well it's just as grotty this coming week, but i think I'm going to have to get out and just brave the rain, I think I'll opt for TWO five Ks just comedy runs in the wind, it looks BAD the next few days and then I'll play Sunday be ear - either a run or a walk, I'm feeling a run maybe...

Oh, and saunas will definitely feature too!

Sort:

The weather has been really mixed lately. It was lovely for my run yesterday, but high winds when I walked to the station today. I'm hoping it's okay for a run tomorrow.

I've not been to a gym in years. I expect you will get some show-offs there.

I run so I can have cake. It looks like you do it to balance out the !BEER.

Windy all week I think, but I'm heading out for a run later - actually an outside run! Probably be a bit comedic, we'll see!

No beer today at least! Cake for sure though!

I've just been out and it's not great weather. I'm sure it must be character building :)

I had a great 'comedy run' against the wind on the way out, the way back - MUCH BETTER! - Character building is a good way of putting it!

Not sure if mine counted as comedy. It was cold and wet with some wind.

Hey @revisesociology, here is a little bit of BEER from @steevc for you. Enjoy it!

I used to love to take a run but not anymore. I do not even jog anymore too. I do not know what is wrong with my leg. It aches me whenever I do something too much

Oh dear, sorry to hear that, maybe walking is for you?!?
