The haunted village - Part 3/The church of Saint Nicholas

The third part of the "Haunted Village" series stops at the church of Saint Nicholas, a stone building built in 1957 while the village was still alive.

Simple architecture, nothing impressive, but you get the spiritual vibes immediately upon entering.

What made an impression on us was the fact that there were lit candles even though no people were in the village at the time except two old ladies, the one of which we met and asked questions about the place.

We did not stay long inside as we wanted to see more of the village. after paying our respects, I took a bunch of pictures and left to see as much as we could. Soon it would be Little Man's lunchtime and we'd have to get back to the car for him to eat.

Outside the cold did not bother us, although it did made my fingers stiff and I was having trouble handling the camera that weights significantly more than my first baby (my Nikon D3400). Still, we wandered around, although we did not get very far...

The view from the back church yard looked a bit depressing. The snowy slopes made me think of how beautiful it would be if there was more snow and what it would be like to live there during winter. Without central heating, without electricity, cooking in wood burning stoves, a real journey back in time. This place feels like a fairytale, like a forgotten folklore tale that sounds like the old stories our grandmothers used to tell us. I felt like I was a child again, even if it was just for a few hours.

To be continued...

I love stone buildings, when I have my own house even the bathroom will be made of stone, the photos are excellent.

The building looks scary from the outside hmmm maybe because it's an ancient. I think one of the ladies lighted the candles inside the church.

It isn't ancient, it was built 60 years ago, and yeah we thought the same that probably one of the two ladies lit the candles

That's looks like a very old place, How old is the charch you have shared in this post ? The work is unique and antique.

The church is not very old, it was built in 1957

Where is this village Ruth?

It's called Morna or Skotina and it's located on the Pierian mountains.

Thank you Ruth!

Wow - that church is stunning inside and out - what a great wee place !!!

Yeah, the vibes there especially at that season of the year were amazing

Those paints look sick, dont know if its the camera but the colors look so vivid , great picture

I think it's a combination of both as the light inside was not very bright

Esta todo muy bien cuidado y las fotos muy buenas, muchas gracias por tus fotos
