Local Coin Shop Find 5/6/2021

in #silvergoldstackers3 years ago

Some are saying Silver is the best priced commodity available. The most reasonability price investment, etc... But, the price is way higher than it was last year. Oh, well. The Local Coin Shop had these fractional, US Franklin Half Dollars. At 0.361 Troy Ounce, they are a little over 1/3 oz. each. These were the best of about a thousand, mostly Kennedy Silver Halves, in the Junk Box.

Silver Bells.jpg As usual these beauties were rescued from the junk box. With the 1955 Franklin Half Dollar being the lowest mintage, of the series, there was a time when they were sought after by the collectors. Now, they are all basically the same price, except for the high-end graded varieties.

Nice grabs @cve3!! No silver is junk in my eye!

Thanks for looking, @fat-elvis. Yes, some call in junk silver, to me, it is part of the overlooked treasure.

We hope to see you many more years here 😊👍

Nice find, @cve3! One man's junk is another man's treasure, and I think you did well with your find. Not only is it silver, but a bit of history as well. Too bad they can't talk! Take care and thanks for sharing!

They do talk, but more like visions, all good, but only for moments. Thanks for looking & commenting, @elizabethbit.

Sweet find at the silver shop! well coin shop i guess.. but silver for you!! I am not a big fan of smelting perfectly fine pieces. Once they are gone, they are gone. Sad really. Now, Scrap, broken, damaged beyond repair jewelry and the like.. I am a fan of reuse and repurpose.

Nice photos too, I can almost feel them in my hand.. lol

Thanks for looking and commenting, @bdmillergallery. Yes, one wouldn't believe some of the items being recycled.

Love a good fat man half! I remember back in the 90s, I think it was Mount Vernon Coin Company that always had ads in the magazines, Coinweek and such, for like 5 'BU' Franklins for, I wanna ay, $10? Maybe it was $20 and my brother and I split em.

Actually, Ben Franklin was a good swimmer & was a pretty strong individual, but, George Washington was the real badass. Thanks for looking & commenting, @jackofcrows.

Great haul, @cve3!!!
Six pieces added to the stack!
Woot,woot!!!

Thanks for looking & commenting, @silversaver888. Trying to keep up with you & your stack!

Awww... you are kidding of course 😁! You know that we don't keep up, lol!!!
Stack on!

Very nice @cve3 I always liked Franklin half's a very good find, I hope the price was OK😀

Thanks for looking & commenting, @silvertop. Yeah, the price is up, but still fair. IMO. $13 USD each.

I believe it will only get more expensive, and harder to find......You got a good deal @cve3!😀

I'm sure the Hunt Brothers would say "Yes!" to constitutional silver and not just bullion.
Whew, almost missed this post.
