New Year Crypto Portfolio Adjustments

I've finished adjusting my crypto portfolio for the new year and made a few changes. First, I reduced the amount of BTC I'm hodling to under a third of my total. Second, I reduced my EOS hodlings to just 7% of my total. Third, I bought a bunch of SOL, such that it now represents a third of my total. My Hive and other smaller positions remained unchanged.

A bunch of people on Twitter suggested that EOS was currently bottoming out while SOL was peaking, which would make my move the exact opposite of smart. Maybe they're right.

Why did I reduce my EOS exposure? I've supported EOS from day one and will continue to do so. The tech is excellent and the community is strong. But I had a couple of negative experiences with EOS in 2021. One involved creating a custom Rstory token on the network and meeting weird resistance every step of the way. Another involved getting ghosted after being hired for work by an important figure in the ecosystem. Things like that are red flags. Whatever promise EOS holds, my experience suggests that it has personality problems strangling its potential.

I still want to try to use EOS for Rstory development. But I feel like it'll be another year until I can find someone to develop my contracts at a reasonable rate. The EOS governance experiment now underway is intriguing. I tried participating, found the instructions unclear, and gave up after a few people were jerks to me about it. Even so, I'm generally optimistic about the token and the ecosystem. The development happening on EOS may eventually bring the price back up and improve the user experience. Not tomorrow. Maybe not in six months. Eventually.

The Solana ecosystem, on the other hand, is growing explosively. Investment firms are making Solana plays. Even though it isn't that user friendly, it is developer friendly. There are also issues with SOL distribution that I haven't fully investigated. Still, maybe time will prove me a fool, but I'm seeing upside potential here.

I plan to load up on Hive in 2022 if the price drops far enough. One of my biggest crypto regrets of 2021 was not having much Hive.

Another token I may add to my collection in 2022 is Tezos. I bought the Tezos crowdsale and still resent the fact that I had to wait FOREVER to get my tokens due to a project legal dispute. Now, I'm willing to forget about that and buy more at the right price, mostly because of Tezos NFTs.

One of my favorite jobs at the moment is writing about NFT art. Today, UNDRGRND DIGS 006 came out, featuring my take on some great NFT artists on Tezos. I'm looking forward to doing more writing for UNDRGRND and using the gig to explore Tezos further.

A final token I should mention here is Terra Luna. I know next to nothing about the project, but people I respect are telling me that this one is a solid bet.

This is not a recommendation to buy, sell, or trade. Nothing I say should be considered advice.
