For some years now I have noticed with concern that certain characters, who boast of their exaggerated devotion to God, use their religion as the perfect excuse not to work, or in case of needing to do so, make the least possible effort.
They justify their laziness with the illogical reasoning that the End of the World is near, that they need to wear themselves out in the work of making disciples, prepare for their weekly meetings and assemblies. However, many have children (all the children that God wants to give them) and are not capable of being good parents, while in the street they appear to be people of high morality.
They have their children with many material deficiencies, shielding themselves with the phrase that one must be "humble", a word that is often confused with poverty. When their children grow up, they take the example of their lazy parents. They take advantage of their young age to give pity and receive gifts from relatives, friends and neighbors.
But, what does the Bible say about this?
The apostle Paul in his First Letter to Timothy, chapter 5, verse 8, states that: ""But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever". On the other hand, in his Second Letter to the Thessalonians, chapter 3, verse 10, Paul wrote: "For even when we were with you, we would give you this command: If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat".
