Let's Paint!!
I put together a simple planet spray paint tutorial that anyone can do.
Safety First
It's recommended to paint in a well ventilated area or outdoors
if possible.
Also using a respirator mask is highly recommended. Using gloves such as latex or similar is also good to keep possible harmful chemicals off your skin. And it's less messy. :)
Materials
List of materials.
Poster board - Can be found at most dollar stores.
Spray paint- Black, White and Clear Gloss.
Lids
Newspaper
You can use any kind of spray paint. I prefer to use rustoleum glossy paints.
Let's Get Started
Time to prepare for painting. I always cut the poster board to a size of 16x20. Easier to find frames for that size.
After the cut I place tape on the non glossy side of the paper to hold it down while painting.
Place the poster board down and gather your materials for painting.
I always make little handles out of tape for the lids so I can lift them and move them easily. Crumple the newspaper into balls and put them aside.
We will start making the planets. Start with black spray paint.
Now spray some white in a circle but don't cover all the black.
Repeat for all four planets.
Now take your crumpled newspaper and blotch the area of all the planets.
Now grab the white paint and and spray a crescent shape over the inside area of the planets.
Cover the planets with the lids.
With the planets covered now paint the whole area black.
Now grab the white paint and spray around the far outside of the planets to create some depth.
Now the last part of the painting you can create swirls or rays etc. It's all up to you. It's your painting. :)
Now the fun part!!
Time to take off the lids to reveal the planets,
Almost Done!!
The last step. Give the painting a nice coating of gloss clear coat. Start from top to bottom.
And there you have it. An easy beginner planet spray painting you can do in 10 to 20 minutes. :) Hope you enjoyed this quick spray paint tutorial. Happy spray painting!! :)
awesome! ive only spraypainted my fence until now and just stuck some card behind it as i sprayed! lol
Thanks!! Well that's a start. :)
Very very nice. It reminds me of a street painter I saw once in Mexico, he painted planets and stars with spray while listening to The Dark Side of the Moon.
Thank you for sharing such an awesome talent.

Wow,that is pretty impressive. I don't have a single artistic bone in my body, but I think even I could handle something like that! Very nice! I found your post on Listnerds and I am really glad I did!
Thank you very much! :)
This really looks amazing!!!!
Thank you! :)
Thanks for sharing! This is a really great tutorial, i love watching people spray paint like this and have always wanted to try it out myself. I remember when i was a kid i tried to spray paint an old skateboard and i didn't really know what i was doing, it didn’t go very well haha.
Thank you very much! Definitely give it a try! :)
@jaylatour nice and inspiring. I have two spray paint cans somewhere in the house, I will try something out, thanks.
Thanks! That's great. Try it out and let me know how it goes. :)
