Hivers at "Kingdom Without End" receive and shelter me in Krakow, Poland.

IMG_20220324_143819.jpg

On the 23rd of March, after what felt like a very sophisticated and well-executed collaborative mission by fellow HIVE users, I reached Krakow from Warsaw. I spent nearly a month in Warsaw jumping through hoops and walking through fire while juggling with places to stay at. And naturally, many people asked WHY?. To list a few things, I was busy with consulates, VACs, administrative work, trying to find options where I could continue my career, and more. The reality is that I had to go against many recommendations and stay in Warsaw simply because these things are best done from and in Warsaw than elsewhere. Did I know it would be tough to survive in Warsaw? Yes. Hive witness, GTG, and many other Polish Hivers had warned me long back that staying in Warsaw wouldn't be the best idea and it would be better if I move to Krakow, Katowice, or elsewhere. Nonetheless, they were constantly helping me with information and resources for as long as I needed them. And I am really clueless on how to appropriately thank them for it.

Meanwhile, there was an angel in disguise who was constantly in touch with me regardless of whether I reached back timely or not. I can confidently say that most of my mental strength is still intact because of @erikah. She took time out of her own schedule to make sure I felt comfortable and also found Hivers from other cities in Poland that I never had any contact with. I was ready to move to Katowice or Krakow and stay in hostels there after my work in Warsaw was done. It is way cheaper than in Warsaw, but Erikah linked me up with @hallmann. And I had to worry a little less here on.

Here are a few pictures from my stay in Krakow. It wasn't even 24 hours into coming into Krakow and I was given a VIP tour of the city's main attraction. The reason I say it was a VIP tour is because I had @hallmann guiding me through these places and his immense knowledge about history and significance is simply impressive. He thinks it could have been boring or daunting to me, but I love it. That is why I loved Kharkov so much. There was so much character in the city, so much history, so many historical monuments, every corner of the city had something to offer. Kharkov was a unique city with rushed to reach heights of metropolitan excellence while still maintaining the authenticity of the past. It was a perfect mix of the past and the future. And such is Krakow. So much character in the city. So many things to admire and places to explore. I am totally infatuated with Krakow, and I have not even seen half of it.

The thing that really dazzled me was "KBK" (Królestwo Bez Kresu), in English Kingdowm Without End. Check them out here @krolestwo.

HERBERCIARNIA, a non-commercial meeting place in the spirit of Zbigniew Herbert's poetry

Although it is much more than just what the description says. I met many people there. And all of them are Hive users. You can see in this post, the first time I was introduced to KBK and met the people there. Hallmann was more than friendly and welcoming, and so were the others. He did pick me up from all the way at the train station. I do not think anyone has to go to such distances out of their normal schedule, but they did. Not only did he receive me, but the people of KBK have filled this empty spot in my heart which longs for a "normal" social life and a friend circle. Someone to talk to. Someone to laugh with. I have repeatedly said that that simply having someone to talk with means a lot, and in here I didnt feel like a stranger. ALthough it sometimes becomes difficult not to feel like a burden on everyone.

I met with @foggymeadow, @hallmann (of course), @grigorijj, @szmulkberg, @przybysz, and recently with @lpa. Each one of them highly talented, intellectual, and interesting individuals. And there isn't a dull moment with the group. Conversations about HIVE, blockchain, cryptocurrency, politics, geography, history, art, travel and what not. Also, @przybysz really went out of his way to get me a place to sleep at. He has generously given me his place that he rents to stay at while he himself has gone home which is quite the drive away. So tell me, how does one really thank such people appropriately? Coz I have no clue.

IMG_20220324_145807.jpg

KBK is really interesting. And day by day I am growing more obsessed with it. It is a successful manifestation of "bridging the gap between real and crypto". A physical space with a real life use cases that is governed and run with HIVE-Engine tokens. At the moment, the token is at $0.47 which means the value is slowly being recognized. Such things really make me happy. Not only do I have people around me, but they are 100% bullish on HIVE and recognize the excellency of it. The KBK uses hive ecosystem to exchange services and goods, as a membership token, as a governing system and more. And I have learned only the tip of the iceberg.

IMG_20220324_144355.jpg

As of now, I am hanging in limbo. I have done all that I could. My status is a very complicated one and there are no specific rules about it yet. Yes, I have been told I can stay in Poland or any other EU country without any problems. But I simply cannot stay. I need to live. Even if it is until the war ends. And for that there are a number of things that need to fall in place, mostly stamps and registration numbers need to fall on specific papers. I have done what I could, now I am waiting. Depending on what gets executed and what doesn't, I may stay in Poland longer or move to a different country and try again. I want to stay calm, but I am panicking. I am not ashamed to say it. It is what it is. I haven't slept for more than 4 hours any night. It is taking a toll at my cognition. I am trying to walk in the city everyday, looking for opportunities and chances. Trying to understand what the life is like here and how can I become part of it. Making back up plans that may not be polished, but at least they exist.

Among many things, here are a few gifts I have received. A HIVE bag, handmade chocolate by Hallmann, and a physical Rycar coin. The coin is pretty cool and rare. I wonder what benefits do I get in KBK for having a physical one. I also learned that Hallmann's handmade chocolate is reserved for special occasions, and so that is also very special. And I have my first HIVE physical merch, so I guess all of this very special.

I want to document my journey as I try to maneuver my life after losing everything to the senseless invasion. The war has stripped a lot from many, some have lost absolutely everything. I think HIVE has played a very strong role in helping and supporting people like myself, and HIVErs have made this painful journey bearable. I am now looking at stories of how HIVE has really changed lives for the better for the people in KBK, and it has also mine. I would love to share these incredible stories of myself and others with you, document them forever on the blockchain. For now all I can say is thank you.

You have the wrong feelings ;) It is a pleasure to talk with you. And don't panic! :) You are experienced, you know many languages... At worst, you can do what you want, write posts on Hive, live with crypto and show doubters that it is possible :P

Actually, it is the opposite. It is MY pleasure to talk to all of you. I am sure you noticed that every meet I learn something new from someone in KBK. And I really like that.
I think the doubters are already very nervous after seeing the unbelievable help from the community :D

What a great way to encourage someone! I am so proud to see how gentle and kind the people from Hive are!

I am glad to see you ended up in Krakow - it is a great city. You have awesome people there to help you and keep company.

Brawo David i reszta!

Yes, it is a great city indeed. Thank you @ewkaw for your support. Hoping for the best here on!

Brawo David i reszta!

I second that notion!

Thank you so much for these great photos about Krakow. Seeing these photos was like a walk down memory lane. I remember when (ages ago) me and my brother were feeding the doves at the Market Square. Our parents bought us grain so we could feed them. They were eating out of our hands.

I also remember when we visited the palace, the floor of the rooms were covered with parquet and visitors were given cloth slippers to protect it. Those slippers were slippery on the wooden surface and we were sliding on the slippery floor. I know it wasn't nice, our parents kept telling us to stop it but it was a cool game.

The Wawel was also beautiful and the St Mary Basilica with the legend of the two brothers.

Another nice memory is that we were watching from the Wawel (I think) down to the Wisła river, where there was an iron dragon exhaling fire every hour. I'm wondering if it is still standing.

Well Karkow is a very nice city, I hope to visit it one day again. Oh, and another wonderful place was the Wieliczka salt mines, which is outside Krakow. I remember we took the train there.

there was an angel in disguise

More like a devil dressed in angel's clothes 😂 Ok, jokes aside, I'm glad things turned out ok for you and you have good people around you. Take care and I wish you all the best. I hope things start to fall into place soon.

I do not think I entered the palace. I only saw it from the outside and I was pretty carried away with Dawid's incredible knowledge about it and the history. It was still just as impressive without going inside.

I have walked a little near the river just under the palace area but I didnt see any dragon. I might meet the KBK guys tomorrow, so I'll ask them about it.

I want to visit it all again, Warsaw, Krakow, Katowice, but hopefully under better circumstances. I feel like it is a place that deserves my proper undisturbed attention.

My second message goes to @hallmann, @phortun, @przybysz and all the others who are helping. Thank you so much for your effort to welcome, accommodate and help @blind-spot in these tough times. The power of the community is amazing!

Good to see what a community like HIVE can accomplish together. And together is what counts right now. No matter who gets supported how, but I am happy you all feel the Hive community.

together is what counts right now.

Very well said. Couldn't have put it better. I have heard many praising words about you and how you are helping. Thanks for being there!!

Gosh, I doubt I do as much as others, but what I do comes from the heart, thanks.

I'm glad you guys are not as alone as it may seem for you sometimes. And to see the Polish people stepping up like this is amazing. Everyone who lends a hand is amazing.

Well, I hope all works out. Reach out if anything may be needed. I'm in Germany.

Wow. I really do not know what to say.

All I Can say is that I pray for peace in Ukraine.

I also pray that you get the strength to gain more than you have lost.

I am happy that hive came in strong for you. I am also happy that you are being received with love in Poland from hivers.

Big ups to @hallmann and the rest for helping.

I hope after the war, things get back to normal and you are able to continue with your career.

Prayer is right. Ukraine needs a lot of it. Every passing moment I have endless wishes and prayers churning in my head. I hope your words come true and there is a bright rainbow waiting for all of us in the future after this storm.

I am so happy to read all these lines man. So happy for you that you found these amazing helpful people here in Krakow. I´m just an expat too so I don´t know much about the history of all these great places and buildings here but if you want to go for a workout (outdoor and for free), visit a football match or want tips on some hikes or cool natural places in and around the city, you can hit me up too ;)

Damn, you are in my city and I didn't even know. I wouldn't be surprised if I accidentally walked past you at some point. Welcome to the City of Kings!

I'm glad to hear you're in Krakow and having help. That is a fantastic city. I hope you can find a job there. 😎

Fantastic is an understatement. I am in love with this city. I also hope I can find something, or else I am going to move once again in search of ....i don't even know anymore.

I'm thankful that you found a family :) That may be enough of a reason to settle in Krakow?

!PIZZA !ALIVE

It is a pretty good reason, but there is the question about my career and legal stuff. But lets hope for the best and keep fingers crossed.

I definitely am keeping you in my prayers! Hopefully soon you will be on a path that you feel good about.

I was pleasantly surprised, I was very moved, it is a great thing this platform to see from that simple bag with the #hive logo . Reading all this attention received is a great hope for the world. Definitely being a #hive gives you a unique personal brand. Many blessings. As I was reading I felt the excitement on your part. It is so beautiful to belong to this great #hive world. i will make a little bag of those. We designed t-shirts, mugs, shirts, pens, sweater with this logo. A big hug @blind-spot

I am just as surprised and moved as you are. This goes to show how well-knit and supportive the community is within and outside the internet. I love the bag, it is really cool and it isn't made of plastic which makes it even cooler!

I always knew it was made of fabric, I can imagine it full of candies, chocolates and it can be used to give away at events and make a nice publicity of our platform. I leave you our work. Keep on traveling and receiving all the support you deserve

Hive Power Up Month - Feedback from February day 25
Introducing NFT for Peace

This is epic. Thanks for bringing this beauty. It is one of the most significant promotional works of the hive ecosystem. These bags will travel very far to reach many people. Hive needs to be heard all over the world.

It is very difficult for me to find authentic views and information in the mainstream press in my place. Because they (Vietnam) are inherently brothers with ties to Russia, they give you bad news. I have to find information from Vietnamese accounts who are taking refuge in Poland and surrounding countries, or a blog like you. It's painful that it's not over yet.
Wishing you peace, she kept up the fighting spirit to protect her homeland.
You have received many beautiful and meaningful gifts

I am so happy that you remain positive and continue to feel hope. Hive has proven to be such a great community in these tough moments, it is truly amazing. Best wishes from Romania 🤗

Good to keep a journal on Hive during these trying time, later piecing everything together where it is safely stored. Amazing people on Hive assisting you, it is a good news story out of a bad situation.

it looks very nice
