RE: Can a non-technical, non commercial project be supported on Steem? The Steem ecoVillage Community

in #steem5 years ago

As long as it’s a voluntary society I see no problem. I personally would rather have currency as it is more efficient. You don’t have to wait for someone to need what you want to trade with them. There is also more security in gold backed and decentralized cryptocurrencies. Precious metals are also good to have as long as you know what to look for as far as avoiding fakes.

nicely said! In fact maybe one day I will execute the final part of this plan.. it is something i wrote about a year ago on steem.. which was indeed to create an ecoVillage coin , based on the steem model that the ecoVillage could use.. that coin and system could also be used to subsidise the building costs, and allow a community direct democracy via upvotes and commenting.. <3

An easy and practical way to accomplish this would be to allow people to.pay in actual currency, which from my perspective means 90% silver U.S. coins, which will always have an accepted hard value, regardless of what is happening in other markets.

Ooh interesting! Hows about an ecoVillage cryptocurrency coin pegged to the price of silver!?

Sounds like a great idea!

My favorite way, though, is simply buying circulated 90% silver US coins, or saving those I find in my change.

Literally the cheapest way to invest in silver, with a ready market all over the world in any economy, zero need for electricity or internet access, and completely usable even in a grid down situation.
