We see this truth reflected in several biblical stories. One of them, among the best known, when the Lord multiplied the five loaves and the two fishes.
Saint John 6: 1-15
After this, Jesus went to the other side of the Sea of Galilee, which is that of Tiberias. And a great multitude followed him, because they saw the miracles he performed in the sick. And Jesus went up into a mountain and sat there with his disciples. And the Passover was near, the feast of the Jews. And when Jesus lifted up his eyes and saw that a great multitude had come to him, he said to Philip, Where shall we buy bread for these to eat? But this he said to prove to him, because he knew what he was going to do. Philip answered him, "Two hundred denarii of bread will not be enough for each of them to drink a little. One of his disciples, Andrew, brother of Simon Peter, said to him: Here is a boy who has five barley loaves and two fish; But, what is this for so many? Then Jesus said, Lay the people down. And there was much grass in that place, and they reclined as in number of five thousand men. And Jesus took the loaves, and when he had given thanks, he distributed them to the disciples, and the disciples to those who were reclining; He also distributed the fish as much as they wanted. And when they were satisfied, he said to his disciples, Gather what is left, that nothing may be lost.
Let's note some aspects:
The Lord tests Philip when he asks him: Where will so much food get for such a crowd?
Many times the circumstances come to us to prove our faith, where it becomes clear what we are looking at, if to the One who is able to do much more abundantly than we ask or understand, or if we only have our eyes set on the circumstance, the need, the problem, the crisis. the need, the problem, the crisis.
We see in verse 7 that Philip responds logically, rationally and mathematically, ignoring that the power of God is not stopped by the laws of nature. "Two hundred denarii of bread would not suffice for all these people to eat".
God is not surprised or impressed by the problem, for Nothing is impossible. How much you have will not limit that He operates a miracle.
An option appears, but not the most favorable.
A young man who only has in his hands 5 loaves and 2 fish. It did not seem to represent an exit.
Commonly we want God to do things according to our thoughts, in our opinion, in my own way. And God only expects us to let him work to surprise us and show us His Glory. The stage was already bein prepared so that the hand of the almighty would show itself in a wonderful way.
The doubt...
What is this for so many?
We are always confronted by disbelief, we think little, we do not believe that it results. We underestimate what is in our hands.
It is at this moment where the Lord appears on the scene to show us his power and authority. He multiplies the seed that I deposit in your hands, what you thought would not be worth it, that plan, project, in which nobody believed begins to recover its meaning and begins to flourish and multiply. So much that the overabundance of heaven is poured out to satiate.
We must move forward without fear. I remember that the Lord gave me this teaching that today I share with all of you, just at the moment when I wanted to start a business, I had doubts that it would happen, that it would be good for me, I saw that there was little I had to start it. I did not want to dare.
It was then that this phrase confronted my heart: "what little we have in the hands of God is done a lot". And I could see throughout the process that it was like that. We just have to believe, trust, the rest God will do it.
