A Year On Steem and a 'Peak' into the Future

in #steempeak5 years ago

I've joined Steem exactly one year ago so this is probably a good opportunity for me to take a look back at the past year and write some of the things I would like to do for this platform in the future.

Maybe some of you already know that I joined mostly to use Steem (at that time the difference between steem/steemit was not so clear to me) as a blogging platform. I started sharing daily pictures and I really enjoyed some of the initiatives promoted by various people/groups. It was a funny way to enjoy this new system (at least it was new to me) and I'm really happy to have found so many amazing people here.

Some months later I started to realize that Steem has a lot more to offer, and that maybe I could do more than just use it to post my photographs. So I started to learn more about the blockchain ...probably at this point it is worth mentioning that my main work is related to software development... and started to work on small side projects.

What started as a small collection of tools that I was building mostly for myself quickly turned in what is now steempeak.com. Lucky, I found some help from people I met right then in the @photogames community. I think that with @dmytrokorol, @jarvie and @r00sj3 we did a really nice work in the following months.
In the next months we worked hard to add new features and improve @steempeak and we get some great feedback from the community. Also, working with @jarvie we created peakmonsters.com too, a companion project that share part of his revenue with steempeak to help cover the costs of the servers.

Time for some hard work :)

Now with the new year we have spent a bit of time to organize our work on those projects better. And also to define some of the main goals we want to achieve in the near future. I think this is a good quote to explain the current situation:

The present defines the future. The future builds on the foundation of the past.
by Lailah Gifty Akita

So we are planning the new features we want to create in the future while consolidating the foundations we have built in the past year.

The road ahead is still quite long, but we'll try our best to cover that distance swiftly hoping to create a frontend that our users will be happy to use and to share.

The road ahead is still long...

I'm excited for what is to come, but I'm not going to disclose more at this time as we are still planning some of the points. But I can say that we are a bit more experienced, we know how Steem works a bit better and we can aim to do great things in the coming months.

...but we can better aim at ours goals in the future :)

Unfortunately I've not been able to keep posting as much as I was used to in these last months, but I promise to try my best to do it more consistently in the future :D
