Introduction: Newsletters on Substack Review

Kam Jennings has released a new product called Newsletters on Substack. It is a PLR product of 23 videos going step by step through starting a newsletter using the Substack platform. This is my Newsletters on Substack Review

He gave me review access just as the product was launching. I did not know anything about Substack when I saw his launch announcement. I do however understand the power of newsletters. There were a few details in the Substack offering that got me interested for my own business

  • Ability to build a list
  • Ability to import a list
  • Ability to offer free and paid content
  • Ability to cross post from other platforms
There are other features that will be valuable down the line - e.g., podcast content - but those are not on my radar screen yet.

So what is the product? Kam has produced 23 videos that take you through all the steps needed to get your newsletter up and running on Substack. In all there is about an hour of step-by-step instruction to help you get started. Better than that it is published as PLR so you can sell the product on as your own or add it to your membership site or add it as a bonus to a product you promote. The videos are in depth and unbranded = easy to make your own.

And at $12.97, the price is an absolute bargain even if you never use the PLR but just implement it for your own newsletters following the videos. That is what I will be doing - this week even - my guess is it will take me half a day to get rolling.

I made a review video where I go through why newsletters are valuable, an overview of what is in the
funnel and how I will be using Substack to get more value out of the journal posting I am already doing. Check it out here

Why Are Newsletters Important?

Newsletters are a powerful way to build authority and trust with your audience. I did a little research

These are the 5 reasons newsletters work - this from quite an old article I found.

  1. Cost effective way to market
  2. Positions one as a thought leader and builds authority
  3. A way to create multiple use content - do a newsletter, compile into a blog post, break into pieces for social media, make videos, etc
  4. Create value and improve relationships - grab hold of those key KLT words - Know, Like, Trust
  5. Provides a base for measuring results - track open rates, click rates, sell through rates.

What is Substack?

Building a good newsletter platform is a challenging technical task. Substack solves all of that and more as it supports the integration of all newsletter formats - text, video, podcasts, GIFs - you name it.

More than that Substack looks after all the membership stuff - how to collect subscriptions, how to do
free and paid content. The best part is Substack only gets paid when your subscribers pay - and only 10%

Substack also has a community of writers and readers - that is a place where you can draw your own
subscribers into your newsletter and into your lists.

Using the Newsletters on Substack PLR

This is a private label rights product. The videos are unbranded with Kam Jennings doing the voice overs. All you will have to do is add your own branding and sell the product as your own. The easy way to do this is to add an intro and outro to each video with your own branding. Two paths from here - either build a sales page to sell the videos as a course under your branding or add them to a membership site. For a membership site you will need to upload the videos to the hosting platform your membership site uses.

With such a low entry price, do not be tempted to go the lazy way and not do the branding - there may be 100 or 200 other guys doing just that. They will undercut you on price too and smash you on SEO. You do want to stand out.

Let's go into a little detail on the funnel itself.

The Front End: Newsletters on Substack Review

  • 14 - How to Create Multiple Publications
  • 15 - What is the difference between a subscriber list and an email list on Substack
  • 16 - How to Export an email list or subscriber list
  • 17 - How to get your first 100 sign-ups
  • 18 - How to embed a sign-up form for your publication

  • 23 - Deleting a publication
On top of this you get the video transcripts, audio versions of the files, a 5 email promotional email sequence, a sales page (in Thrive Architect), an unbranded video sales letter (VSL) and 4 super PLR bonuses. Of note is the PLR rights include the rights to add to a free membership site - this is a super bonus (mostly membership sites have to be paid for this type of PLR). You could even add it to your newsletter site.

Price $12.97 with full PLR rights

OTO#1: Ultimate Substack Package

24 more Substack videos going deeper into succeeding with Substack plus 100 Guru in a Box videos with PLR rights.

Price $97.

The downsell here is $47 for the deeper dive into Substack only. For me, I have already bought Guru in a Box . All I have to do is add the deeper dive as they will add huge value to my membership site. For me - this feels like a great $60 package.

OTO#2: Epic Conversions Insiders Club

Yearly membership of Kam's Club. This includes one new IM product a month. This Newsletters on Substack is an example of what to expect. At $84/year this is a bargain. One just has to convert one of those IM products into a 10X seller to recover the cost.

Price $84

The downsell is monthly access for only $10.80/month - grab this and run for a few months with a firm commitment to sell at least one of the monthly offers as your own product. Then pull the plug.

OTO#3: Max Deal Affiliate Opportunity

This upsell is a little different - it is all about promoting this product. It goes by the name of Max Deal Affiliate Opportunity. The offer is you get the right to promote the entire funnel at 100% commission for $119. Now my maths tells me that you only have to sell one partial funnel to recover the full cost and bank a few bucks. How? $12.97 for the front end plus $47 for the downsell on OTO#1 plus $84 for one year of the Epic Conversions Club = $143.97.

Price $119

The downsell on Max Deal Affiliate Opportunity for $77 is you get 100% on Front End and 75% on rest of funnel. This feels kind of solid for me as you only need to sell the front end and the first upsell to be ahead.

Of course these affiliate opportunities will continue to apply after launch as these will become evergreen product.

Conclusion: Newsletters on Substack Review

My story tells me this is a strong idea. I relish getting help to speed up implementation on a newsletter platform without the complication of doing it through some combination of my autoresponder and WordPress blog and my own membership site. I will be even happier if I can use this to cut the costs of my autoresponder service, now well over $100 a month.

Bonuses: Newsletters on Substack Review

Kam Jennings has included 4 bonuses as part of his launch. They are PLR products that help along the key stages of your internet marketing journey - build a working infrastructure, leverage a first month blueprint, unravel the secrets to affiliate success and promotional sequences for profits.

To add to this my bonus focuses in on getting the best value out of the list you build in Substack - all about email marketing. I will also add in a Convertri version of the Newsletters on Substack sale page. The pack includes a Thrive Architect page which is only helpful if you use that platform or can choose to use it.

My bonus page is not ready today but you will be able to access it anytime after I update WarriorPLus - just come back and look there.

PS

My review video includes an overview of how I aim to deploy this in my business. Step one: find a value to get more value from my regular newsletter type posting Step tow: build more engagement with my list. Step three: reduce the cost of my autoresponder service. Step four: build a new list.

My next blog post will go into that story a little more deeply and show ho I go about implementing newsletters on Substack
