Safronbolu is in the Western Black Sea region, a town in the Karabük province, a museum city famous for its traditional Turkish houses. Safranbolu is from Karabük 15 km away from the rugged ground with a stream of rubble, 1013 km2 an area was established. Safranbolu, which is dominated by various civilizations throughout history, has in turn been dominated by Hittites, Phrygians, Lydians, Persians, Hellenistic kingdoms, Romans, Seljuks and Turkish beyliks. Safranbolu, which was added to the Ottoman lands for the last time in 1460, belonged to the Kastamonu province of the Ottomans in the late 19th century. Following the founding of the Republic, Safranbolu, which was connected to Zonguldak province in 1927, was included in the borders of Karabük province in 1995. Most of the people working in Karabük and Karabük Iron and Steel Factory in Safranbolu province, trade and agricultural activities have declined. Agriculture is made in 15% of the district lands. The main products grown are; wheat, barley, apple, and grape.
The production of "saffron", which gave its name to the county, lost its former significance. Having rich forests that can be counted as important, Safranbolu grows with its natural beauty. With its old city center, 2-3 storey wooden houses in Bağlar and Kıranköy districts attract attention with its unique architecture. Some of these houses are arranged so that tourists can visit them. In addition to these houses, there are historical buildings such as rock tombs, aqueducts, glass, han and hamam. Safranbolu, which is visited by many local and foreign tourists with rich cultural heritage and natural beauties, was declared an urban and natural site in 1976. At the end of 1994 Safranbolu, which was taken to UNESCO's "World Heritage List", had the title "world city".
