Travel Diaries - Throwback from my trip to Athens

in #travel4 years ago (edited)

Memories are so wonderful to reflect on. Definitely travelling is the best experience of life one can have. Travelling is a important part of my life, I am a person who would travel once in at-least 6 months to some place and explore. It has been now almost 8 months that I have not traveled anywhere. The last was in the month of Nov for the Fest to Bangkok and then from Jan onwards, have been dealing with hubby's health issue. Now he is ok but the current condition does not allow me to go anywhere. And not sure, when travelling will be back to normal. For the next couple of months or even a year may be things will be strange for travelling. I am already feeling sad about it. Specially when I look at the holiday memories to different places, all the more it is painful.

So here's a throwback to my holiday to Greece. I had visited the place with my sister and we visited Athens, Santorini and Mykonos. It was a memorable holiday.
Today I will share memories of the time spent in Athens.

We spent 2 days in Athens. The major sites we visited were Acropolis, Olympieion, Parthenon, Monastiraki square, Syntagma Square, Mnisikleous Street and a lot of other sites.

We reached Athens late in afternoon. We had heard so much about Monastiraki square that we just could not wait to visit. After getting fresh, not wasting much of time we immediately left. That evening we spent at the square. The place is full of local shops for clothes, footwear, souvenirs. One can do best local shopping in this place.

After spending good enough time at the square, we went to a nearby pub and had some drinks and then a sumptuous dinner.

It was such a wonderful ambience for our Dinner.

The next day was for visiting all the Historical sites starting with Acropolis. The place is huge and has many temples inside. We had a good time, but it was terribly hot, we had not expected that kind of heat and we were sun burnt :-(

The Church at the site.

The remains of the ruins at the Museum of Acropolis. Honestly I am not much of a Museum person, so it was a quick go through here. Some of these old ruins did attract me.

The Temple of Zeus. We did not go inside. Just from the outside had a glimpse.

And finally ending the day back at Monastiraki square at one of the eating joint. The guy serving us, asked us to try out their local drink Ouzo. We called for 2 shots and ahhaaa it was extremely strong, we could not handle the 2nd one, so just stopped at one.

After this the next day we visited the Beaches and spent our day leisurely at the Beach side.

I am thinking of these days and missing so much of the adventure time. This year I had 3 destinations on my list 1st in April was Amsterdam, 2nd in Aug was Italy and finally in Dec was Srilanka. Let's see if the Dec Srilanka holiday can happen. I hope so.

Hope you all enjoyed the trip to Athens. Look forward to my another post of Greece where I will take you to Santorini and Mykonos.

Thank you for visiting my blog. 👼🏻👼🏻💖💖🌹🌺🌸

Memories are what keeps us alive - waiting desperately for the Corona to be over - Next plan is to go t Shiridi / Mumbai 😀

I have not been to Shirdi since many years now. Last was around 5 years ago, but before that would visit every year. Same here, I right now want to go back to Muscat, which is my top most priority.

O wow Greece. Really historic place. How do yo manage to travel for so long?

If you love to do something you will keep going after it right? :-)

yeah absolutely. I also wanted to plan for such trips so thought that it would be better if i prepare for 'how to'
