I had about 10 hours to spend in Budapest(in total), and here will be some photos from Saturday rain promising morning and beautiful Saturday shiny evening. Left and right respectively
Budapest on the first sight looks like clean city with nice architecture and everything is in order - lots of police is taking care of that - never mess with Hungarian police.
So here is the first comparison: entrance to the pedestrian zone. Time difference is about 7 days and 12-13 hours.
Speaking of architecture I really like how the setting sun gives a totally new meaning to these words on St. Stephen's basillica :
Since the first post about Budapest contains majority of photos from the morning stop (shorter) I will focus on the street photography in the evening. Next photo I wanted to drop out, but just couldn't. How often do you see the whole family running? Just beautiful.
Just decided to put another comparison here - empty street and a frozen painter with a full garden of people and lots of beer.
Blooming with life in pedestrian zone, sun is mildly bathing everyone, inside every restaurant is violin and cello playing some music (also Hungarian dance (no. 5)). But just outside for those folks that like to walk and be on fresh air there is a live performance too. These musicians were playing Frank Sinatra - My way beautifully I would say!
And while on the first Saturday main attraction was military show, next one had a completely different connotation. World Cup Fan Zone in Budapest was overwhelmed with Croatian fans, and photo on the left was taken at the moment when Denmark scored in 3rd minute. was a pretty devastating blow for the crowd there. But we know how it ended (good luck in a couple of minutes!!!)
Proceeding to Wroclaw here are two shots I took somewhere in Slovakia from the bus... I guess even if I asked the driver wouldn't have understanding to stop a bus for such a great view and shot.
Last photo from Budapest is just below. But before that I must say - that looking at it, it is a nice city, architecture is beautiful there are some nice places to walk, but no places to chill - zero parks, or to get to one park/green area you need to march some long distances, I don't like that - and that's why for me Budapest is the crossroad and bypass station for other trips.
Well, I wasn't being completely honest about that, at the end of July I will be stated in Budapest again for few days it is Hungaroring time! See you all in the next town.
Beautiful selection of photographs. It feels like you really enjoyed Budapest, the nice architecture and tidy clean streets make really a positive impression. I love the street musician and Hungarian dance is also my favorite one. Also the last photo is really gorgeous with its stunning sky and lights in the building make its very artistic. I love painting evening sky and this shot looks like ideal for painting .
Thank you for sharing your experience and introducing beautiful city :)
Thank you Stef! Glad to read you enjoyed this post , stay around for some more ;) beautiful skies from Wroclaw are coming up sometimes next week. )
And yeah I once heard Hungarian dance on guitar and cello - that was mighty combination.
I would like to see that painting too, tag me in if you decide to share it with us ;)
Cheers!
I spent some time in Budapest about 10 years ago. Such a beautiful city.
I have a funny story about getting busted on the tram for not "validating" my ticket - the Hungarian tram "police" scared the bajeezus out of me!
I didn't validate my ticket (I had a bunch of them already paid for) because I couldn't figure out how to use the onboard validation thingy (circa 1915) and none of the passengers seemed too worried about helping me. One stop later and dun dun dun..... Big scary tram police donned their black armbands.
In the end I got off without repercussion but certainly a story I shall never forget! I'll have to tell you the whole hilarious mess of it someday.

Budapest looks amazing, a little and it really looks like one of those cities that everywhere you go there is always a street performer doing something!
Young padawan is responding! :)) Love the street performances!
