Visiting Darwin (2022)

I'm not sure about you but this was my first long distance trip after the pandemic. I have been cocoon in my home for about 2 years+ due to the pandemic and it's a good sign that everything is going back to normal and the borders are now open in Australia to enter.

My sister was getting married in Darwin so this called for a long overdue family trip. What better time to get together and to also meet the extended family. Her wedding was simple a nice, on a green lawn with white seats, white umbrellas and a lovely arch in the middle (not sure what you call those). But overall it was a great time. Loved seeing the northern side of Australia. You always see people boast about the city life of Australia, Melbourne, Sydney, but rarely have you heard of this little city called Darwin.

I must say, it's mostly road trips and long drive but it is a unique trip in itself, take for example Norman here, a 700kg saltwater crocodile.

We went on gorge cruises, crocodile cruises and a lot of waterfalls and hotsprings. Mind you, the weather in NT was crazy hot at 36'c and it was the dry season so yeaaa, not a fan of the waterfalls and hotsprings. I've been to many in Malaysia so it wasn't something new to me. I'd prefer more zoos, crocodile sightings and cruises.

As usual, the grass is always greener on the other side, and the photos taken in Australia is always beautiful, I don't know why. Blue-r skies, greener grass, always picture perfect.

Kakadu, Ubirr

We even went to see the Rock art in Kakadu National Park. some of these wall paintings are said to be over 20,000 years old. The wall art shows what some of the aboriginals do during their time and what do they hunt. There were paintings of turtles, fishes and many others.

I even climbed to the peak of the rocks and it had a beautiful panoramic scenery right on top where you can see the vast empty land which is something you don't get in Malaysia.

To end this off, here is my family (The Asian one, obviously) and my new extended family. Apologies for not taking more photos as I have decided to spend my time enjoying the moment instead of winging out my handphone to snap a picture. Some things are just worth the moment for.

Have a great week ahead!
