I usually take some pain reliever prior to my dialysis, usually an NSAID type that is mild for my stomach because other NSAIDs really are bad for the stomach like you will just get some lesions to your stomach after a couple of capsules, I never returned in using those after.

But as with NSAIDs you do not have to use them in an extended period of time as I have known a few patients already that took them and it busted their kidneys out of commission, some even developed an stomach ulcer that killed them eventually considering that they are a dialysis patient already.

That is why I am confident that I will never hurt my gastrointestinal tract because I am just using them twice a week at the most but for normal people if you can endure the pain just endure it otherwise you will risk your kidneys and your GI some considerable damage.

But only people who takes them regularly gets the GI and Kidney side-effects, NSAIDs should not be used as such but rather as a temporary basis and it also depends, if you already felt the stomach upset just stop immediately.

Years ago I took a type that made my stomach hurt, I thought that it made an ulcer out of my stomach considering that I just took it with some food and I used it only once. I never used other types other than this one that is mild to my stomach (we have to take it with some food) and what is nice is of its long effect to my system and gives me a considerable relief.
