Here's my entry for the BeerSaturday 357 with my latest beer from the nano microbrewery Beat et Betterave in Frelighsburg. I discovered this brewery during the solar eclipse of April 8, which was clearly visible from the Eastern Townships (see Wednesday Walk challenge: Solar Eclipse in Frelighsburg). While waiting for the moon and sun to meet, I had a good cup of coffee in this place and discovered that the owner also brewed beer like this NEIPA called Hoppynelle.

Voici ma participation au BeerSaturday 357 avec ma dernière bière achetée à la nano microbrasserie Beat et Betterave à Frelighsburg. J'ai découvert cette brasserie lors de l'éclipse solaire du 8 avril dernier qui était bien visible depuis les Cantons de l'Est (voir Wednesday Walk challenge : Solar Eclipse in Frelighsburg). En attendant la rencontre de la lune et du soleil, j'ai pris un bon café dans ce lieu et découvert que le propriétaire brassait aussi de la bière comme cette NEIPA appelée Hoppynelle.

Here is the map of Quebec where I can show you precisely the location of the brewery. The Beat et Betterave is located in the small Eastern Townships village of Frelighsburg, not far from Dunham on the way to the U.S. border.

Beat et Betterave is first and foremost a cultural café founded in 2015 in Frelighsburg by Éloïse and Ludovic Bastien as a return to their roots after a musical career in Montreal. Initially, a garden was added to the project to be able to serve fresh produce. Then Ludovic came up with the idea of brewing his own beer. Thanks to brewmaster Patrick Roy of Sutton Brouerie (see BeerSaturday #350 for more information on this brewery, restaurant and hotel), Ludovic was able to make his first batch of beer and has been experimenting with other types ever since..

Le Beat et Betterave est d'abord un café culturel fondé en 2015 à Frelighsburg par Éloïse et Ludovic Bastien pour un retour aux sources après une carrière musicale à Montréal. Dans un premier temps, un jardin a été ajouté au projet pour pouvoir servir des produits frais. Puis après, l'idée de brasser sa propre bière est venue à Ludovic. Grâce au maitre brasseur Patrick Roy de Sutton Brouerie (voir BeerSaturday #350 pour plus de renseignements sur cette brasserie, restaurant, hôtel), Ludovic a pu son premier batch de bière et depuis continuer d'expérimenter d'autres types de bière.

🍺 Tasting / Dégustation :

Hoppynelle** is a 7% alcohol New England IPA produced with Simcoe and Mosaic hops. In the glass, it has a pretty, cloudy, almost orange color, topped by a beautiful white foam. On the palate, we find the characteristics of a NEIPA, with a taste of honey and fruit that's a little more pronounced than usual. Beat et Betterave has some great beers, perfect for a picnic when I'm visiting this beautiful region. The name is a pun on the famous French Opinel knife.

La Hoppynelle est une New England IPA avec 7% d'alcool produite avec des houblons Simcoe et Mosaic. Dans le verre, on a une jolie robe presque orangée assez trouble surmontée d'une belle mousse blanche. En bouche, on retrouve les caractéristiques des NEIPA avec un gout de miel et de fruits un peu plus prononcé que d'habitude. Beat et Betterave propose de bonnes bières, parfaite pour un pique nique quand je visite cette magnifique région. Le nom est un jeu de mot avec le fameux couteau français Opinel.

Design

Design-wise, I don't know if it's a creation of two owners, but it's quite successful despite its apparent simplicity. The blue roofs on this Hoppynelle are reminiscent of the barns you see along the roads in the Eastern Townships.

Niveau design, je ne sais pas si c'est une création de deux propriétaires, mais c'est assez réussi malgré la simplicité apparente. Sur cette Hoppynelle, ces toits bleus rappellent les granges que l'on aperçoit le long des routes dans les Cantons de l'Est.
