Personally I would do 100% right now! And I absolutely did!!!!
However if you do need a little bit of hbd so that you can invest into diesel pools and so forth I would keep just regular comments as being 50/50 and just make a lot of them.
The more that you can stack the more that you can start looking into starting to put in delegations and make more.

After this comment I will switch back to 100%HP and keep it going until I reach 600 HP and re-valuate then. For HBD, I can always take my LP Rewards and use them to buy HBD for Savings and then add the rest to my diesel pool positions. On the LEO side, whatever LEO I get for placing higher than Khal gets staked.
Yep and some.of those pools paid me to get into other pools and make more.
Just keep compounding interest and investing.

Well technically the slider is to give you variable voting options instead of just 100% up vote. Not sure if it was changed but sometime after 500 or so HP you get your slider or that's how it used to work...

I've been seeing the slider for upvotes as I make them manually. What I haven't seen is a slider for payouts since those are either 100% HP or 50/50 between HP and HBD. I'll need to do the 100% option at publishing time.
Delegations is where I would need help not so much to make them but to find out which accounts deserve them or which accounts to recommend. For myself, I'm interested in delegations which reward me with HIVE, but it's good to know which delegations reward which tokens as well. Where would I find out about them? Which ones deserve to be promoted?
Other kinds of delegations exist, and I can always delegate to people who need them. It will be a while before I can delegate to a promising Hiver.
