I raise food mostly for my household and share with my daughter and granddaughter. I can, freeze, or store food in cool place to last the winter. I feel it is healthier for us and saves on grocery bill.

Today i plan on putting up rhubarb in the freezer. This is a vegetable that is ready early in season and comes back every year. It is a cold climate crop so it does not grow everywhere. It is sour and need to use a sweetener. My earliest memories with my Grandmother is her taking my oldest sister down along the pasture with some sugar in the palm of our hands and she would cut off pieces and let us eat them. Now I make a sauce, especially during winter, when we need highly nutritious vegetables.
